What do you have to do to create a high school Paintball Team??

Hi,
If anyone knew any requirments or what not, on what you have to do to start a high school paintball team it would be greatly appriciated. I live in southern maryland and kinda wanted to start one, but I'm not sure what or how to start it.

talk to your principal, it really depends if he/she will allow you or not. that will be your biggest problem; after that you basically need people and a place to practice, and money would be your other largest issue. deciding if the school pays 100% for it (which adds up to a ton of money) or if the students have to pay for a part of it is a hard agreement to do without having an official team yet.

edit: i know schools are supposed to pay for everything, but some of my school's smaller programs kids pay a bit to keep the program going.

High Schools are not Required to pay for anything.

You Dont't need permission from your high school to start a team eighter just get a group of buddies that all go to the same school and get Some gear if you don't already have it. The just go play. Find some local Beginner tournaments/ Regional HS tournaments Enter those and Have fun. It's all about learning and having fun.

This is only true if you dont plan on using the High School property, personal, or funds to interact with playing.

i tried at my school and they wouldn't say they had the team, if they were really affiliating with themselves or not... so i assumed they are responsible for fundings and all that

i tried doing this last year there are a few issues with the high school league 1 alot of teachers are not for it due to legal risks such as injuries or other mishaps 2 kids dont generally have the money for such an expensive sport 3 transportation is an issue also because of age 4 minors cant sign their own waivers just another obstical 5 the teams i played cheated like no tomarow kids arent exactly honest 6 their has to be an interest in your school if there isnt theres no point. those were the problems i faced besides that wish you the best rules can be found through navigating the nepl website

Honestly at the High School Level you don't need any of that. Even then 99% of High Schools won't support you and when someone decides to use a paintball marker to vandalize properties in the area they are going to come running to you and thats who is going to get blamed.

Here is a link This should help some. also try looking up videos on youtube on starting Paintball Clubs

all you need is several guys who all attend the same school to play paintball together. as long as all of you can prove you are students at the same school, you are eligible to play NCPA as a high school team.

you need absolutely no involvement with the school. other than attending.

Yep, these are both true. However, unless you receive permission from the school, you may not use the school's official name (not sure if this applies to public schools since some could just be the towns name and the mascot). But I go to a private school and as a result we couldn't use the full name of the name of the school.

oh... my school never knew about us. so they had no say in the matter lol.

however currently, our college team is not allowed to call our selves Eastern Kentucky University, we can be Eastern Kentucky or Eastern. but we cannot use the University. we cant use any school logos due to copyright. they still fund us, but we cant align ourselves with the university in any way. lame

well i go to a private school too, so instead of the full name you just use the nickname and you could do that?

What do you mean eligable to play NCPA? What is that, and how easy it to play at this level? I mean I have played for a while, but other people that want to be apart of the team might not have the experiance. I only ask because the whole league stuff is new to me. I am used to just playing locally against other teams.

Like everyone else is saying your best bet is to get a group of friends together from your same school and practice regularly. If you play at one field you may be able to get discounts.

I know the college league plays at a high D4 level usually. The good teams can play at a high D3 level. Just from my personal experience and opinion.

I have no idea on the high school stuff.

From what Ive seen by looking at the rosters a majority of players are either low D-4 or high D-5

Eligible just means you're a high school student and everyone on your team goes to the same high school (with some exceptions like you can grab junior high, private and home schooled students who will/would be going to your public high school.)

In terms of play level, college/high school play tends to be lower-level overall than similar tournaments in your area, because in other events there are no limits as to who can be on a team so the best players get together on the same team. With school athletics (not just paintball) every team only has the best players from their school - so you might have one experienced tournament player, but most teams will have some inexperienced players.

It's really an area where if you just start with players who LIKE playing, and then get some practice in, you'll be in good shape pretty quick.
