Help With My Protein Question!
i know this is probably a stupid question... but i always thought it was good to consume a protein shake, protein an hour prior to working out?
someone told me it wasnt good to do that the other day.. im trying to gain weight for football. anyone that can help reply!

If you're gaining weight, eat 6 meals with at least 40g protein in them. Before and after workouts is 2 of those meals
best get that fork ready

thanks! its kinda hard to eat 6times because i have school. any suggestions on what i could quickly eat that could give me the protein/calories i need?

I drink one with glycerol (or a light meal) 90 minutes out, personally. Then 30, and 60 minutes after. Then 90 minutes after, I eat a large meal. Today it was 1.5lbs of burger in as much mashed yam as I could stomach.
If you are lifting for football, get on GOMAD.

im not trying to get super big. i play quarterback, im just looking to put on a little more weight

Lots of meat. Not processed either. Tuna, ground beef, chicken, steak..you get the idea. You have to eat for the size you want. Even if you aren't able to eat 6 meals, make the ones you do eat bigger. Big breakfast, lunch, post workout meal, and dinner.

A) getting "super big" doesn't happen by accident
B) even if it did, what would being a larger, more powerful and more capable athlete possibly hurt?

honestly lunch is the hardest for me to eat, could i eat a big breakfest and a shake for lunch?

Because it lets you take in an assload of nutrition, and if you're playing football, it doesn't matter how clean your bulk is. Starting Strength and GOMAD will make you bigger and more powerful, guaranteed.

You play QB...what are your reasons for the weight gain? I'm guessing you don't need additional muscle to throw the ball, so I would assume you want to be harder to take down on the field. In that case, as Dake has mentioned, "bulking" doesn't have to be incredibly "clean"...you just want to worry about getting some more weight on you. Of course, always consider how it may affect your QB sneaks/rushes.
GOMAD is cool if you're pressed for time. You know you're taking in the macros of a gallon of milk a day, and you even have it pre-measured for you lol. Personally I'd want to eat a lot of food for my macros and leave the milk behind, but there are many ways to accomplish what you're talking about.
