Lurker Barrel

hey there nation, i'm just wondering if the stats for the lurker barrel efficiency boost are really true?
i'd like some input on those who've actually used it
i'm looking for a new 1pc barrel for my pumps...lurker is my 1st choice so far
i live in houston so it's pretty humid year-round so a .678 is a little too small so i'm looking into the .684

I shoot these barrels, all one piece btw...

Lurker .678
disruptive .682
lucky 15 .685
disruptive .688
also have a lurker .684

Don't know about the efficiency boost, but honestly I don't think your going to gain alot in efficiency no matter what type of barrels you use...

of the two lurkers, do you like the 678 or the 684?
what differences do you see?

I don't think you will see much difference between the 2 especially with pump. Choose the one that will give you least roll outs.

depends what bore he is currently shooting. if hes overboring he's going to see efficiency improvement with an underbored barrel.

i'm using something that's slightly smaller than the paint (.685)...but do occasionally get roll-outs because we all know paint isn't perfect...
reason i use that bore is because i live in Houston, TX and it's fairly humid most days...
i guess .678 wouldn't be so bad...i'll see what kind of results i'll get w/ a smaller bore insert...i just want a 1pc for my pumps so i won't have problems taking the barrel off and just the front half comes off

I bought both the .684 and the .678. I have only used the .684. I live in southern IN. Pretty humid usually. I love the barrel . It is quiet and when matched with high grade paint it is very acurate. I usually one ball people now where before I needed to shoot three - four to make sure I had a chance to hit someone. I was shooting freak .685. When I chrono with eigenbarrel I shoot about 20 fps higher with reg set to shoot 270 with freak barrel. lowering the reg pressure in effect should make it more effiecient. I was going for accuracy and I have acheived that nicely.

I think it was more the one piece barrel. Paint fits tight thru the entire length. In The freak barrel, paint only seals in the bore back.

lurker is a 1 piece barrel in that it cant be unscrewed but it is stepped bore like a 2 piece.

I believe the .684 is for the most part straight bored. I would call the .678 a taper bore since there is no step in the bore there is a gradual decrease in size.

From lurker's website
0.678″ underbore stepped to 0.685″ at the porting for optimum consistency and efficiency with today’s smaller paints.
Also .684 control bore.
14″ total length; 9.5″ unported length
A tighter squeeze and longer control bore means your gun can run at extremely low settings, for a smooth and quiet shot. Efficiency increases from 10-15% are not uncommon with underboring!
Mildly chamfered breech transition to eliminate ball clipping upon loading.

i like my lurker barrels, when i actually use them, depending on the bore of the paint of course...
The only thing i found that i did not like about the barrel is that if you do infact get a barrel break, make sure you clean it out with a squeegie fast or else it will shoot all crazy....
It does not self clean very well at all...

Not knocking the barrel itself, but it is the only flaw i did not like about it, I carry a squeegie now on the field full time if i am using the lurker barrel...

i have a swab all the time anyway...for me or for the new kids who're using the rentals and have no idea why their paint is going off in different directions...i know a clean barrel does wonders

Yes, the efficiency gains are true, barrels of the tightbore/long control bore design do have efficiency advantages. Just make sure you check all your options
