A buddy of mine put a small shin guard on his forearm with his elbow pads one day when he played snake. He used it so all he had to do was lean on that pad a little and he could slide ON the guard.

If you wanna keep yourself on a paintball field on a regular basis, then yes. Landing wrong in a dive does NOT feel good without elbow pads. Also, as people have said, elbow pads do help with bounces and are legal to wear. So if the competition's wearing them, why he hell wouldn't you?... just my opinion.

Both knee/shin pads and elbow pads are useful for taking those hard dive and slides into snake to other bunkers. I never forget my Empire elbow and knee/shin Grind pads.
