Ifit : what kind of barrels to use

Hello all :

If you saw my previous post on the ifit , i asked whether an ifit bore could come into conflict with a smaller front ( regular barrel) when used together.

That being said , i pose a new question : with the current state of market being that the average paint size has dropped to around .675 , (is that right ?) do you all out there suggest a barrel with a high bore front ( like a freak setup) to use with the ifit so there is no chance of a bore conflict ?

If so , which barrels do you use thAt youve had success with ? I was kind if hoping to have the option to use a stiffi front ( from the kit ) or a sly front or something similiar to that .

Let me know what you think , and thanks

I have not heard of many cases where paint has been that small. Most people underbore just fine with a .679 bore barrel.

If you are going to be purchasing the ifit and another barrel, you are better off just purchasing a different barrel kit with ling control bore backa. The ifit is really just meant to squeeze a little more performance out of a favorite/stock barrel that you already have. Its control bore length os less that ideal for optimum efficiency.

If you are wanting super small control bores, Gog now offers them for the freak barrel system.

so stealthy correct me if I'm wrong but what your saying is, If you have a stock "let say a .693 back, the ifit will allow you to bore size the paint for better results.
Also, lets say that .693 barrel back is stock & you bore 10 piece of paint at .677
what kind of issue can be encountered.?

The iFit has the smallest commercially-available bore sizes (down to .667), so it's great if you're going to use a closed bolt marker. If you're going to buy an extra barrel instead of using a random one piece lying around, I'd say go the inexpensive route and pick up a one piece CP barrel or similar, or just get something that looks good.

What exactly are you trying to fix about it?

You will get efficiency improvements by using any of the backs on the Ifit kit with your stock barrel assuming the paint isn'y .693 or bigger . The control bore on the Ifit isn't super long so aren't able to get quite as much efficiency as you would with a barrel system that has a longer control bore. If you like the stock look and porting of your barrel and want to squeeze a bit of efficiency out of the gun than I think the Ifit would be a good buy for you.
