Well, you can start by creating an actual resume.

Your school might have a career advising office. I would go talk to them. My campus have employees that are paid to help with resumes and everything that relates to it. That's where I'm going if I need one.

This is actually good advice. Go in with a draft (use the templates on Microsoft Word, they look good), and they'll give you some helpful tips on improving it.

Depending on what kind of job you're looking for, you'll want to emphasize different things. This can be accomplished by simplifying unimportant information, and expanding upon certain relevant sections.

For example, I've been applying for various internships at hospitals and clinics in the area. Most of my previous work experience has been in restaurants as a cook. However, my degree is directly related to the internships that I'm applying for. In this situation, I quickly list where I've worked, but don't go into much more detail about it. I then expand upon my educational experiences, honors, etc. to appeal more to the employer. If I was applying to be a cook at a restaurant, I'd do the opposite.

It's really about organization and make yourself standout. Like he said, list what will benefit your field or what you're applying for.

Get resume paper as well. It's similar to poster board.

My Community College offers that...but the people who they pay to do it know about as much as you do about it and are generally too lazy to get off the phone or facebook to help you.

We had a guest speaker who helps with it at our school come talk to us about it. He seemed very willing to help us with preparing for interviews and stuff along those lines after a job or intern has contacted you.

It's probably just your school. But I can't say for certain because I have never been to mine.

I never understood why people had sub a hard time wriing resumes. To me it has always been common ****ing sense....

Don't put irrelevant info. Point out your skills and accomplishments and list what you have done that is actually useful.

It's common ****ing sense. Just pretend you are an employer looking at it.
