Why should you resgister your Eclipse marker?

Original thread: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...6#post54233916

Re: Why should you register your Eclipse marker?

Eclipse has always strived to provide the best possible Customer Service and After Sales Care when looking after it's customers, so i thought that at least a few of you might appreciate it if i outlined the benefits of registering your Eclipse marker using the Warranty Card in the manual or our Online Registration System at http://www.planeteclipse.com/site/wa...gistration.asp

- Warranty. The primary benefit of registering your marker is to validate the warranty of your marker. If you have not registered your marker already then you NEED to do it now! Registering your marker if and when you have an issue is not good enough. From 1st January 2009, only markers that have been registered within 14 days of purchase will be covered under the manufacturers warranty.

- Parts updates. If for whatever reason we decide to issue updated parts for any of our markers, these will be sent out directly to the owners of these markers using our Warranty database. If you haven't registered your marker you won't be on the database so won't be receiving any parts. Capiche?

- Service History. Ever bought or sold a used paintball marker? Ever wondered about the service history of the marker that you are about to purchase or how many different owners have used it? All of these are possibilities for the future providing you guys are vigilant about registering your markers and encouraging others to do the same.

With an ever expanding network of Eclipse Service Centers throughout the world it is becoming increasingly easier to keep track of whether markers have been registered, as well as updating their service histories.

Driven by a desire to provide the best possible service to you guys, i'm giving you an amnesty period of up until the 1st January 2009 to register your Eclipse markers and validate any remaining warranty that they may have. After that date if they have not been registered then we reserve the right to refuse to cover any repairs on them under warranty.

I hope that this helps to clarify the benefits of registering your Eclipse marker(s) .

Since releasing the SL94 marker earlier this year we have seen a small number of customers experience issues with their rammers snapping. Initially we believed that the sole cause of this was due to a fault in the metal that they were machined from, but have now revised that opinion since receive back SL94’s from two separate customers that have broken two rammers apiece.

Both of the markers that came back had their rammer caps screwed into the body loosely; finger tight if you like. When they are insufficiently tightened like this, the rammer and the bolt move further back in the body and this causes the bolt pin to hit the back of the pin slot and consequently “stretches” the head of the rammer; eventually causing it to snap if the marker is repeatedly fired in this condition.

As a result we have revised the design of the rammer so that there is now a greater margin for error with regard to the position of the rammer cap. We have already issued a small quantity of these revised rammers to our beta testers and the initial feedback is that they are working extremely well. We currently do not have any more of the revised rammers available but anticipate that they will be in stock in early September; we will of course let you know as soon as they are available.

Until the revised Rammers are available, we suggest that you inform all SL94 owners to follow these guidelines to ensure that their marker performs at its peak:
- Remove the #011 NBR 70 o-ring on the threads of the Rammer Cap and stretch a #009 NBR 70 o-ring over the rammer cap so that the cap will screw in further.
- Tighten the rammer cap ALL the way in, using the correct sized hex key.
- Lower the LPR output pressure by turning the LPR adjuster screw 1 ˝-2 turns in from flush.

By following the above guidelines it will dramatically increase the longevity of the Standard SL94 rammer, and in most cases will prevent any possible failure.
Please distribute this information: The Zick2 Rammers that are shipping as part of Zick2 Kits are the new, improved design.

ANYONE who has recieved an aftermarket Zick2 Rammer DOES HAVE the new Rammer design.

ANYONE with an SL94 will have the OLD Rammer design. When Nicky T gets back after his paternity leave we should be instigating a program for ALL SL94 owners to get their Old Zick2 Rammers replaced.

I hope that is clear enough.

Exclamation Re: Attention all SL94 Owners; how to claim your free Z2 Rammer and Plank upgrades!

Attention all SL94 Owners; how to claim your free Z2 Rammer and Plank upgrades!

From original thread: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3200063

*** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE FIRST POST BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS THAT ARE ALREADY ANSWERED IN IT ***

All SL94 Owners who have registered their marker either by completing and returning the Warranty card provided in the manual, or by completing and submitting the online Warranty registration form here: http://www.planeteclipse.com/site/wa...gistration.asp will AUTOMATICALLY be sent out the Zick Z2 Rammer and the Ego9/SL94 Solenoid "Plank Kit" upgrades, COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE, as soon as they become available.

The Zick Z2 Rammer is EXACTLY the same Rammer that is included in the Zick2 Kit.

The Solenoid "Plank Kit" is the drop in solution that will replace the Solenoid "Turrets" that we have actively been testing, and as such can be installed into the solenoid assembly in a matter of seconds and fitted to the marker without the need to modify the body at all.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
- This upgrade is ONLY valid for customers who have purchased the SL94 and consequently registered their purchased product for warranty purposes.

- No upgrades will be sent out to Stores that have SL94's in stock, as the marker must be deemed "sold" and consequently registered for warranty before an upgrade kit can be assigned to it.

- No upgrades will be available at any events, as they will all be mailed out from our UK office.

- If you would like to check on the warranty status of your SL94 marker then please email me on: nick.t@planeteclipse.com making sure to include your FULL name and address as well as the serial number and colour of your SL94.

- Upgrade Kits are expected to start shipping no later than the week beginning 28 September 2009.

Details of how Ego9 Owners can claim their Solenoid "Plank Kits" will be released shortly - but if you want to get to the front of the queue REGISTER your marker here: http://www.planeteclipse.com/site/wa...gistration.asp now

Re: Full Ego 10 Specifications

Full Ego 10 Specifications

Original thread link: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3209313

The Eclipse Ego10. This 6th Generation Ego is the start of a new direction for Planet Eclipse and the focus of the engineering behind the marker. For the first time since the inception of the Ego model, the Ego10’s main design brief and focus has been placed on smoothness of shot and even finer resolved paint handling. Every previous Ego has been developed with the express intent of maximizing the cycle speed of the Ego design, speeding up rammer and bolt movement and minimizing pneumatic and electronic delays wherever possible. Whist this has produced arguably the fastest under-and-over poppet paintball marker on the planet, it can equally be argued that the Ego has not been one of the smoothest shooting.

Well that is all about to change. Paintball is changing. No longer is the perfect marker the one that will shoot and cycle the fastest. Today, more than ever, players want and need to be able to shoot the most fragile paint, with the smoothest shot. And this is the direction that the Ego10 will start taking us in.

Using some of the very latest Ultra High Speed Video recording facilities, as well as micron-accurate, 50,000hz sampling speed, laser displacement sensing equipment, the Ego10 has been developed to produce bolt speeds that are more gentle on the fore-stoke so that paint is handled in a much more gentle manner when being loaded, and that opens the poppet valve in a way that helps reduce sound signature, and then returns in a way to help minimize the recoil imparted into the body by the rearward motion of the bolt and rammer and reduce rear-stop rebound.

Yet even though the cycle has been significantly slowed down, due to the unique design of the direct-mounted solenoid, the Ego10 still has extraordinary pneumatic responses that mean no time from switching on the solenoid to the bolt starting to move is wasted. The result: Still 28+bps fire rates, but smoother, quieter, better-handling feel.

With a smoother cycle, come other benefits. Wear and tear are significantly reduced. Bumpers, valves, and all other dynamic components suffer less brutal forces on every cycle hence longevity is added to each of those components.

Mechanically the Ego10 incorporates some of the technology of last seasons SL94. The Zick2, which is an intrinsic part of the pneumatic drive system, is designed to both have a softer initial kick-off on the forward stroke, which helps load the ball more gently and helps minimize bolt-strike breakage of the paintball, but also cushion the system on the return stroke into it’s rear-stop position. Both these attributes are key to helping achieve the fundamental goals of the Ego10.

Sitting above the Zick2 kit there is now a body-cut contoured Cure3+ bolt. The main body of the bolt carries the same upper profiling and cupping as the standard Cure3 bolt, which massively reduces both bolt-strike impact on the ball being fired, but also ensures that the bolts leading upper edge has the least amount of impact possible on the second ball in the stack. Impact fractures from the bolt on the second ball are common place when using force-feed loaders, and the Cure3 ensures those fractures are kept to an absolute minimum. But what is new on the Cure3+ bolt is a new 2-piece design. The new second piece sits inside the main body, is held in place with the bolt pin, and is removable and interchangeable without the need of any tools. The standard Cure3+ found in the Ego10 comes with a ramped insert that gives the air path from the valve to the face of the bolt a nice smooth transition through its 90 degree turn. But the real beauty of the design means that the insert can be quickly and easily removed and replaced for any future upgrades that may be developed for this bolt design.

Up at the front of the Ego10, below the lightened LPR cap, there is now an additional vent in the main body. This little vent hole is further testament of the desire to make the Ego10 the most reliable high-end marker out there. The little hole is nothing more than a vent, but its simplicity is its beauty, in that it makes it impossible for any kind of HP air from the valve chamber to bypass the internal LPR body seals and contaminate the LP air that feeds the Solenoid and Rammer. This added protection for the solenoid further enhances the durability and reliability of the whole marker.

Electronically the Ego10 has also had a complete overhaul. Of course the key features that have kept the Ego at the top of its game, such as Opto and Micro switch trigger actuation, are still there. But the heads-up display, GUI, microprocessor, solenoid drive circuit and expansion socket have all seen some major changes.

The four layer circuit board is home for a 16-bit, 16mips PIC microprocessor, running at 3V and with advanced power saving features. The increased number-crunching power of the processor allows for much more sophisticated control algorithms, leading to a smooth and seamless operation of the marker, and the 64K of internal program memory provides ample space for future firmware expansion.

The solenoid drive circuitry has been optimised with a focus upon the consistent and repeatable operation of the solenoid and multi-level prioritised interrupts within the control firmware ensure that timing fluctuations are virtually non-existent.

Standards have traditionally been a problem within paintball’s manufacturing community and so the Ego10 expansion connector supports UART, SPI and IIC interfaces, providing flexible upgrade capabilities. Planned expansion boards from Eclipse include USB and RF interfaces.

The liquid crystal display module (LCM) has been completely redesigned from scratch. This is not a commercial display, made to fit into a paintball marker but a custom unit engineered specifically to withstand the rigours of the modern game. The chip-on-glass design is completely sealed against the ingress of paint, water and aggressive lubricants and is further protected by a plastic surround which also serves as a rigid mounting system. Transflective LCD technology means that the display doesn’t wash out in strong sunlight, contrast actually improves in brighter conditions whilst using significantly less power than OLED technology. When light levels are lower, a tru-colour RGB backlight can be configured to the user’s colour of choice via software.

The viewing area of the LCM has been increased by 92% over the previous model, improving the resolution while maintaining dot pitch and the Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been overhauled in order to take advantage of this larger viewing area. Readability has been improved with increased font sizes; Windows pop-up with useful status information; Range bars indicate the adjustability of parameters; Smart Menus reduce clutter by removing parameters when not required. Usability has been improved in a number of subtle, but important ways. It is now possible to scroll through the run screens with a single button press, allowing the user to quickly access all of the available information; The tournament lock can be quickly toggled with the press of an internal pushbutton; All of the user adjustable control parameters have been grouped into a single menu and can be easily viewed regardless of the state of the tournament lock. Along with the instant and peak ROFs the two Rate of Fire screens display historical data in the form of histograms allowing the user to monitor rate of fire consistency and thus analyse the way in which the trigger is being pulled. The Shot Counter screen features an adjustable and selectable Shots Remaining Gauge which allows the user to quickly estimate how much paint they have remaining.

All together, the changes made to the Ego10 have been entirely player-focused. It’s been designed to be easier to shoot, smoother to shoot, more reliable, more consistent, require less day-to-day maintenance, easier to adjust and just generally nicer to live with. What you won’t find different with the new Ego10 is our industry-leading levels of customer support, our commitment to support the players in the locations they use Eclipse products, and our commitment to educating and training technicians and service centres the world over.

An Eclipse Marker is more than just a collection of metal and wires. It is the Complete Package.

Official Eclipse Ego SLS Specification

Eclipse Ego SLS Specifications

Original post: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.p...4#post64838094

Info from:

Planet Eclipse Blog

Eclipse SLS

With the Ego10 launched late 2009 and claimed by many to be the best Ego to date, and by some margin, it would seem faintly ridiculous to presume that the new SL could improve on the platform any further.

But with application and direction the team responsible for the development of the Eclipse line of markers have managed to come up with a package that pushes the development of the Ego line ever forward.

Every previous SL has been distinguishable by its blend of swooping exterior lines and light-weight design. There is no exception here. Yes, the SLS may have eschewed some of its classic nose-to-tail features and replaced them with individual body strakes, but the concept of a cohesive design theme through the marker remain. As of course does the diminutive size and weight. At only 834g with barrel, battery and OOPS, the SLS retains its position as the lightest high-end marker available for sale.

But of course the SL has always been about more than just looks and weight. The SL is also used to showcase new and exciting technology from the Eclipse development team. And this year is no different.

The SLS has seen enhancements in three key areas:

- A new SL3 In-Line Regulator and Regulator mount
- Modification of the Cure3+ with inclusion of three different Bolt Inserts
- The introduction of full SLS-to-PC communications

The latter of those upgrades is made possible through proprietary software in the form of the E-Portal. The E-Portal is an application that provides a means of communicating with an Eclipse SLS through the familiar Windows(tm) environment and will give the user control over all aspects of the SLS firmware. It will be possible to:

- Upgrade the Electronic Firmware
From time to time Eclipse will release new versions of the firmware that controls the operation of the Eclipse SLS. This may be to add new features to the current firmware; to improve existing features; to fix bugs in the current firmware; or to accommodate changes in major league rules affecting the way that markers are allowed to operate. The latest version of firmware will be downloadable from the Planet Eclipse website and programmable into the SLS using E-Portal.

- Manage the Control Parameters
E-Portal will display all of the SLS' Control Parameters in one easy-to-read list. Parameters can be read from the SLS, modified and saved for future use. User presets can also be created for different firing mode configurations and saved for future use.

- Customise the Start-Up Splash Screen
E-Portal provides a simple way to create images that can be transferred to the Eclipse SLS in order to personalise the start-up screen. These images can be saved for future use or shared with friends and team-mates. Sample images are also available for download from the Planet Eclipse website.

Where the E-Portal offers enhanced control of the electronics, the new SL3 Regulator gives enhanced control of the pneumatics. The SL3 regulator is a completely new, from the ground up, design of In-Line regulator for Eclipse. Eclipse regulators have always been renowned for their reliability, simplicity and robustness. The SL3 obviously has all of those attributes, but now is even more accurate, has better stability when dealing with fluctuating or decaying input pressure, and has a higher flow capability. Not only that, the all-new seal configuration is now both reversible and replaceable by the user, should the main seal ever become contaminated. All of these features mean that the output of the regulator (the pressure that governs the markers velocity) is now even more tightly controlled over a far wider range of supply pressures from the tank. This means velocity remains stable right down to the last few hundred psi on the tank, giving you more usable shots per fill.

And as promised with the advent of the Cure3+ the new SLS Cure3+ comes complete with three interchangeable bolt inserts. Stock, it comes fitted with the ramped gas transfer option similar to the one seen in the Ego10. And inside the box, together with the optional trigger, optional Valve Guide and other spares, there are two further bolt inserts: A Muffler design, and a Pepper Pot design. A simple pull and twist of the bolt pin allow access to the bolt insert. Simply fit the one that suits your play the best, then pop the pin back in and get back to the field. It couldn’t be more simple.

Of course the rest of the SLS is no less feature laden, with the Zick2 Rammer kit, adjustable OOPS fitted to the T-Railed SL frame, choice of two triggers and two valve guides, adjustable LPR; custom MAC solenoid valve with modified porting and of course the 5-Piece Shaft SL2 barrel kit.

As well as the VERY limited run of about 300 SLS (Maximum will be no more than 350) there will also be an exclusive PBNation Owners Badge that you will be able to tag to your user account (Original Owner ONLY)… So you prove your right to be part of the Elite SLS Club..

If you've ever had to send your marker into Planet Eclipse or one of our many Eclipse Service Centres for upgrades or repairs, the chances are that you have been asked to provide a covering letter providing your details and specific details relating to your enquiry and your marker.

As individuals seemed to interpret the requirements with varying degrees of success we've made things a little easier for you by creating this editable Covering Letter form that you can complete, print off and send in:

In our continued quest to enhance and expand our network of Authorised Eclipse Service Centres across the globe we have been running a series of Dealer Tech Courses both in Europe and the US.

This has meant the addition of several new Eclipse Service Centres, so we've put together this little map to enable you to find your nearest ones:

Re: Eclipse Warranty Policy

Eclipse Warranty Policy

Link to original thread: http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3489919

Effective immediately our Warranty Policy is as follows:

Warranty
Planet Eclipse offers a 12-month limited warranty period on your Eclipse manufactured electro-pneumatic marker. The Eclipse electro-pneumatic marker is warranted to be free from all manufacturing and production defects for a period of 12 months from the date of manufacture, unless a proof of purchase is provided in which case the period of 12 months will be from the time of original purchase. Warranty cover is dependent on successful completion, and receipt by Planet Eclipse Limited, of warranty registration either in electronic form on https://www.planeteclipse.com/warranty or via mail using the warranty card included in every Eclipse electro-pneumatic marker manual. Warranty exemptions include, but are not limited to, labour charges, accidental damage, wear and tear, unreasonable force, surface finish and perishable components such as o-rings, valves, screws, solenoids and break beam sensor units (at our discretion). Instances of customer inflicted damage such as bent frames and any affiliated broken parts will be dealt with on a case by case basis and as such may be subject to charges for parts and/or labour.

The direct link to this policy (and links to our other policies) can be found here: https://www.planeteclipse.com/site/p...rranty-section

As the only current way of providing a proof of purchase is by including it with the mail-in warranty card that is included in all Eclipse marker manuals, I am giving anyone who has already registered their recent Eclipse marker (primarily SL-94, Ego10, SLs, Ego11, Etek3 LT & AM, Geo2) for warranty online the opportunity to submit their proof of purchase directly to me by following these guidelines:

***PLEASE NOTE THIS OFFER EXPIRES ON FRIDAY 31ST DECEMBER 2010***
- Scan your proof of purchase
- Email it to me on: nick.t@planeteclipse.com
- Ensure that the title of your email is "Eclipse Marker Proof of Purchase"
- Ensure that your email includes at least the following information:
- Your FULL name
- Your FULL address (including state, zip and country)
- The model of Eclipse marker that you own
- The serial number of the Eclipse marker that you own
- The colour of the Eclipse marker that you own

Additionally Proof of Purchase may be submitted via fax to either our Rhode Island Office (401 247 0931) or Manchester Office (+44 161 8725972) ensuring that you provide all of the above details.
***PLEASE NOTE THIS OFFER EXPIRES ON FRIDAY 31ST DECEMBER 2010***

All Authorized Eclipse Service Centres have the necessary systems in place to verify not only if an Eclipse marker has been registered for warranty purposes but also if a proof of purchase has been provided, so please ensure that you have everything in order asap.

As always if anyone has any questions please post them below and I will answer them asap.
