I like to think he didn't, but if you look you can see a few things.

A.) The kids braces himself to get hit / sets himself up / and then jumps into the cabinet on his own.

B.) After he hits it, you can see there is clearly an opposing force that pushes harder than he hit it and it's delayed.

C.) He seems to fall into or under the floor making it so that the thing doesn't squish him, which would also explain why it was able to fall flat to the floor and not be at an angle.
