Buna O rings in an Automag
To Mag experts:
I have was just curious, can Buna O rings be used in an automag? I know a good deal about classic guns but mags are not one of them. Urethane o rings are not cheap.
Thanks in advance

Probably cuz he wants to sell mag o ring kits... yes you could use buna, but like dmex said they have to be sized perfect and don't last as long

They should work; it's not like the mag has critical tolerances for most of them.
Some of you with really, really old parts kits will notice that they're not all urethane.
The o-rings I would be worried about would be the ones under the most movement.
Also, the o-ring set varies depending on which marker you're talking about.
- power tube or L10 spacer o-ring
- regulator piston o-rings
- on/off o-ring (although earlier they were non-teflon, and even the ULT uses non-teflon because they can't get it in the right size)
The rest I don't think are a big deal.

If you are running co2 then no. If HPA then yes.

I’ve had luck using Buna for the L10 o-ring but they don’t last very long.
Have had trouble with the older classic and retro on/off’s. Never tried Buna it in the ULT or RT on/off’s.

Well I do know that Co2 plays havoc with Buna and a lot of Co2 based guns use Poly o rings. I just wasnt sure exactly how they would work in a mag being that almost every o ring in them is PTFE or PU. I have a lot of people asking me for a kit but I can not buy exotic seals in bulk yet, they are just too expensive until I can order a lot of them.

Well, the problem is if someone asks for o-rings, it's most likely one of the o-rings that I mentioned as they actually might wear down -- power tube/L10, on/off, and reg piston o-rings. Those are exactly the o-rings that probably won't do well with buna, particularly the power tube/L1.
All of the o-rings are PU/PTFE (where possible) because AGD's just crazy like that. It's the same company that brought you carbide sears and reg bodies that could take 3000PSI input. I mean, it's not like the barrel o-rings need to be PU, right?
