Preppers
So I recently seen this show maybe on net geo called preppers or somthing along that line, it is about people who think the world is going to change dramatically and there will be a dooms day. Stock pile years of food, guns & ammo, **** like that. The world we know will not be the same, so small talk do any of you prep or believe in this idea?

Myself? I already have stockpiled molotov cocktails... Sold my car and invested in an AK47 and other various small arms, food rations etc. Prepare yourself...

I have fire arms and the proper ammunition for them. However I do not own them because I am afraid of a revolution anytime soon. If **** ever hits the fan I will be prepared though.

On another forum I go to, one of the mods knows some of those people on the show. She said that the Nat Geo editors took a lot of what they said and edited it out of context to make them look as crazy as possible. I'm not sure about the truth of that though.

Prepping has its advantages. I don't see an apocalypse, massive revolution, currency collapse, etc. happening soon. However, job loss is a threat to many, many Americans, and it doesn't hurt to have a month or six of food and funds stashed away just in case you get canned.

With the tens of THOUSANDS of dollars that they spend prepping, they could easily put it in savings in case of unemployment and be comfortable for a while...

i believe this...its tv and the idea alone screams crazy people...so of course i wouldnt put it past the producers to tweak it a bit.

Sure they edited them, but just look at the physical evidence of the craziness.

You'd have to be pretty crazy to spend tens of thousands of dollars. Maybe $10k at the most (I don't remember any of them saying last night that they had spent like $30k prepping).
But still, I'm talking about a different kind of prepping. Not the kind that the black firefighter did for a supervolcano explosion, but rather a practical kind of prepping. Canned goods, money in a savings account, gasoline- things like that.

We have plenty of food on hand to last a few months but it's not from prepping. We also have plenty of beef and dairy cattle.
Yesterday I was bored and decided to organize our gun cabinet and sorted the ammo. While doing so I counted it just to see how much we had. We have approximately 1400 that counted plus another 200-400 of .22lr that I didn't count. I didnt count what was in my room or truck either which was probably another 100 or so. I don't consider it to be a lot. I always try to buy a few boxes just to stock up. Mainly because I don't want prices to raise dramatically.

The baller thing about owning a .22LR: I can spend $40 and have over 1,000 rounds of ammo.

common sense should tell you to do this also. Like if i am layed off tomorrow i have enough funds to make it about 4months on what i have saved up as long as nothing terrible happens.
Thats what im prepping for the day i get layed off if it ever comes around.

I know. And it's easily portable because the round is so small.
