First i want to start off by introducing myself to the community. My name is John Burns (Sometimes called Madd Dogg Burns), im originally from Western New York and moved to St. Louis relatively recently. I run a paintball team back home called "The Brotherhood of Steel Scenario Paintball team". We have been involved in many of the larger scale events in that tri state area as well as games in Ohio and Florida since 2005. Skirmish PA is one of the more notable events we are involved in as we are a part of the allied coalition. Most of our teams members comprise of either active duty military, reserves, veterans or law enforcement. We have an open door policy as far as recruiting people for the team and i encourage all paintballers whether speedball or woodsball to join us.

Now that intros are done, i'll get on to talking about the title of this thread and the purpose of me writing here. To sum it up, a collective of investors and the surrounding community are putting together a project to open an Urban factory paintball arena just minutes from downtown St Louis and minutes from the central west end metro link. The purpose of this field is not only to stimulate jobs and community, but its core purpose is to build affordable self sustainable housing units for anyone to rent. I will talk about that in detail in a minute. This field is going to be a prototype for future fields in the area as i have seen a major lack of extra curricular activities for not only kids but family's in general in the st louis area.

This is a shout out for ALL those interested in either making a difference in your city or that just want a good place to play. What we are currently looking for is dedicated paintballers/airsoft to help staff big events and daily procedures associated with maintaining a safe and fun field experience. This has the potential for future job opportunities with the company. I want to stress that as of right now this is a volunteer job/internship however you will have benefits from helping out and the possibility of pay in the future.

This is a list of what we are looking for currently.
Highly motivated/knowledgeable paintball/Airsoft tech's: Must be able to disassemble and reassemble both speedball and woodsball markers and find/fix within your means, said markers.
Laborers/Referees: Must know how to referee games/scenarios and promote safe playing measures (Chronographing markers, checking velocities for "hot guns"), Breakdown of barricades/field items.
Proshop associates: Maintaining the fields store and selling paint/merchandise/food to the public. May also be required to learn using the fill station. Knowledge of products will also be a priority.
Creative workers: Artists or creative people who want to help build certain field pieces as well as painting them. May also help with signs and advertisements around the community as well as the website design.
Forum and online Public relations: We will need admins for different web entities in the future, some things in the works included live video feed of the field during play.

Now on to talking about the goal of this project. Basically the revenue we are going to generate through fundraisers and this project will be used to help build what are called EcoVillages. An ecovillage is a term used for homes that run off themselves and support a small to large community of people. These housing units when finished will be able to do everything from generate its own heat/electricity/water/ even food. The cost of living for family's that will live in these houses will be significantly less then most families pay for now. There is so many details i could write about this project but i dont want to draw this message out longer then it already is. This project is also the stepping stone for creating jobs as well as giving people an option to open a business they have always wanted to do. But above all else...its putting a much needed paintball field right in your backyard so to speak.

Good to see another east coast guy out here and one that dose scenario I myself am from south Jersey moved out her last march and as fare as I know I run the only scenario that I knew of in the STL area doesn't seam to be much of a scenario base out like back on the East coast but I'm trying to change that and hope you put on some good games so we can come out and play I'm going to send you a pm with my cell.

Actually we are talking about catering to speedball as well. The open "Pit" so to speak is about 4 story tall walls on all sides in the middle of all this. Its like an open courtyard with no roof and gravel. And there is an inside portion of 4 levels that includes the basement access to the open courtyard. This is just one site too, we hope to open more locations much later on down the road here. We still have work to do on this site as this is a work in progress. Anyone wanting to participate in helping this become a reality is more then welcome to check it out during our walkthrough days. In fact tomorrow at around noon we will hosting a lunch in/walkthrough of the facility to all those interested at 3965 Westminster Pl St Louis, Missouri 63108. Let it be known this is a public event, you can bring your familys if you like. In fact i encourage everyone to bring someone to see what this is all about. is this for profit or non profit? I ask because its a little confusing why your including all the eco village stuff. whos building them, are you selling or renting them?

you should pm me about details because I live in stl and can definately help out building/running the feild. I can weld(arc, mig, oxy-acetaline), general metal and wood fab, machining and turning(cnc and manual), tech any marker, do any general construction tasks, ect. I've been dieing to find a nice indoor facility where I could work/help.

I appreciate the support the community is giving on this project. As for the eco village stuff. Yes we are selling units to people as well as a renting. We have a ton of people helping to build them.

We will also be helping disabled veterans with this project by providing affordable/accessible/accommodating housing. One of the ideas we had is to provide a trade off for students or anyone really. One unit may have a severely disabled veteran in it that shared a common area/bathroom. The trade off would be the non-disabled person would help the disabled one when needed and in return get cheaper rent.

Not only that but we are giving people the option to open their own business' within the community. Imagine your "Best case scenario" work environment, now imagine you actually doing it. I know it sounds like dreams but honestly the only thing stopping you from that dream is you. My dream has always been to open a paintball/airsoft field and provide LE/Military a training facility to save lives. So thats what im going to do. If i fail its on me.

The property is already paid for, so there is no leasing involved. As far as square footage, i honestly don't have the number at the current moment but its a 4 story building which includes the roof and basement. It has lots of land space so opening 2 outdoor fields that are separate is always a possibility.

Right now the main thing we need is sweat equity and help with fundraising. This is a for profit but its not for us, its for the project as a whole. If you have ever wanted to help your community out or change the way we live. This is a project anyone can jump on board. The original founders of this whole project have been working on it for 12+ years, though the lack of consistent support from people can be straining. While the idea of opening a field wasn't their idea, i convinced them this is a viable option and one the community of st louis would benefit for many years to come. If you want this to happen, then lets do this.

Everyone can help and I wont ever turn down good honest workers. I'm not going to sit here and tell you this wont be hard, it will. I'm not going to ask you and your family to drain your accounts, but every bit helps. I wont disillusion you and say this project is done and ready because its not. I will say i'll accept any help that i can get on this, and not just with the paintball portion. As far as compensation goes, we can negotiate contracts or benefits in person.

i have always wanted to play scenario ball. and even xball. only thing is, if you make a field make it byop i hate having to buy field paint the prices are ridiculous.
