Hey all, not sure if this is the right thread for this post, but I figured it's a good start.

I've been toying with the idea of getting back into paintball for a while and finally convinced my Gf to join me. I used to compete a lot (10+ years ago and haven't been on a field since.

Just dusted off the ole automag and she fires like the day I bought her. Stopped by pevs and damn the equipments changed a lot.

Long story short, I want to get back into the sport and also want to get my Gf involved as well, but we will be looking for a more relaxed playing environment and just to have fun. I wouldnt be opposed to getting back into competition and tournament teams, but I need to get my a$$ in shape first.

What's the play like at rt 40? We live in white marsh so its nice and close. I've been to too many fields in the past where there's a tight bit group of regulars who can make it pretty unpleasant for some weekend warriors looking for some laughs and good times.

When would be the best time to go where there is a nice mix of experience levels?

Well we are a pretty tight group but definitely not opposed to new people.
We try to help younger players grow then then usually branch off and go else where.
Good group of guys.
The owner is awesome.
Show him respect and he'll give you the same.
The guys who play at the tournament level play at 8am on Sunday's for a private practice.
But it's open to all. By private we mean no parties and such taking the fields.

We'll take care of that. I wouldn't suggest you come at 8 then if you're bringing her because we don't care who is on the other side lol but that's just ball.

Great, thanks! Once we get a few weekends under her belt I'll push her (and myself) a little harder.

Now, back to the equipment threads. I got the ole automag purring nicely. Now I just have to figure out these "new" electronic guns. Just picked up an ion and a shocker off eBay pretty inexpensively, but I'm thinking the first time out I'm going to stick with old faithful mag :-)

my first time at 40 was 2 sundays ago. yes, it does seem like the advance players do show up early and leave early. not knowing that, i was left alone around 2ish and was forced to join the random walk on group. the guy who works the front counter and another kid were nice and helpful. i like tournament style fields. other random advance were extremely nice. ah, i wish i rememberer their names. older black guy. round. was shooting a NT. another was a white guy, sleeveless shirt with elbow pads. it was great finding some people right off the bat and not making it awkward. what i HATED was the refs that were reffing walk ons. punk kids. texting during the games. no one had barrel plugs. dont preach ppl about safety inside the netted area when you dont have your mask on. " i'm the ref, the game starts when i say so ". field organization was terrible. EVERY single groups out there should be rotating fields after 2 rounds on each so everyone can be happy bc every field is being used but instead i ended up waiting for over a hour between games. oh yea. Cost is awesome. $60 for entry/air/case. that cant be beat. for that price, ill probably make 40 my home field but not sure until ive tried all the local fields.
