2 and a half years old and is that TINY!?!?!?! I don't think the previous owners are the only ones who cared for him wrong. What's your feeding schedule like?

no offense..not sure how long you have been around reptiles...but i have for over 15 years...So i think im quallified to deal with and can honestly say HONESTLY say in that 15 years I have never had an issue with a snake over my shoulder...or around my neck...can shat happen sure it can you could get struck by lightning while in the shower...

Have I been bitten unfourtunitly yes on many occasions whos fault was it...MINE and no one else! that snake is handled allot. Would never try it with one of my retics ever...but a boa ussually very calm I have no issues with it.

I'm so pumped there's a snake thread! I just got my first ball python ~5 months ago and she's awesome. Never once refused a meal, and is such a sweetheart. I'll post up some pictures tomorrow. I've noticed some of the enclosures posted up look like they have live plants can anyone confirm?

I'm at school right now, but come summer I plan on making her an awesome enclosure.

You can still get one if you can find a breeder in your state. The worst thing is a lot of breeders will quit breeding them. I love my burm. Burmese are my very favorite breed of snake. They are amazing animals. Then I think about when she dies. I probably can never have another one. My kids and grand kids may never be able to know the joy of keeping such a magnificent creature.

Best thing you could do is move to OK. Bob Clark is here and I bet he keeps on chugging. He does tons of international sales and may not be affected like the breeders that only deal in the US.

Switching my snakes to frozen to save money. Live are about 3x the cost. This sucks. I got 4/10 to eat. Note to self: don't thaw one for every snake.

i think it is high time i get another blood python. oh how i miss my old one, at least he is happy living with my cousin in NC. if anyone knows some good breeders let me know, i am looking for an albino red in particular

i haven't been big into reptiles since 05-07 but nerds was top dog when it came to bloods back then.

some of their beeder snakes were simply stunning.

yea i saw a few of them years ago and was absolutely blown away. i am also entertaining shortailed pythons. always loved the heavy bodied species, fat little guys pack a punch though. probably the most painful bite i ever received was from my old blood as a result of me being an idiot with his food

i want a blood or shorttail too, but the last few times i went to shows the breeders that were at them didn't have any that really interested me, all their bloods were milk brown and kind of unappealing no high color/high contrast snakes at all.

Bloods have boa heads.

Bloods are beautiful but make terrible pets. They get pretty large, are pretty ill tempered and they are hard to handle as adults because they are so thick and heavy they are easily injured while handling. If you want a snake that you can handle a lot then I'd not get a blood. IMO, burmese and balls make the best pet pythons.

Well I owned a blood for about 5 years until I gave him to my cousin when I moved so I am pretty confident I could keep one again. I will agree with you that they are a great deal harder to care for then most of my other herps but i think i got lucky and mine was fairly docile and predictable. The only other snake I am really interested in is a jungle carpet, outside hot snakes which i am not ready for yet. I have never really liked burms for some reason but i love balls, would love to own one of the rarer morphs


Tbh I am probably going to get another monitor of some sort. I have wanted a black throat for years and I finally have room (basically i have a spare bedroom for a big *** lizard). black throats get pretty massive and i might want to opt to another tegu to complement my argentine blue (a red would be nice to have)
