Spec R Button Issue

The rubber around the power button (including the little silver button itself) came off. When I try to just stick it back on, it is pressing the actual button just enough that when I barely touch it with my hand by holding the frame it trips the board button. I look at the rubber and silver button, and flange on the silver sticks out a considerable amount from the rubber, like the rubber is too thin.

Did I loose a part between the rubber and the frame to space the silver button out a little more? Anyone have any ideas?

G3 spec r power button

Hey,

I saw your post an although I don't know how to fix it, I got shipped the rubber piece for the spec r on a mistake by paintball gateway. It's brand new. If you want I'll ship it to ya for 4 bucks.

To confirm it's the right thing, this is what they sent me.

First off, no, there is no spacer between the rubber pad and the grip frame.

Before you put the rubber piece back in, put the silver button on top of the switch. The base of the silver button should be flush with the recession milled out for the rubber piece. Put the rubber piece over it.

The little indentations on the left and right of the LED window should sit flush with the frame. The silver button should sit slightly lower than the red ring of the power icon.

If it sits higher, someone probably installed a virtue board for a G3 in your Spec R and didn't trim the button on the board down and forced the silver button into the rubber further to compensate.

Sorry, I should have specified, I have the APE board, and I'm pretty sure it is the Spec R/G4 board, not just G3. Got both gun and board used, and before the button/rubber popped off, they were perfectly fine.

Is there a way for me to check if it is the G3 board, and if it is, can I trim the button down, and if so, how? Sand or x-acto knife?

If it is the Spec R/G4 board (I know G3 uses an opto switch, but not sure if the ape board uses an opto switch or micro switch), you shouldn't need to do anything. The button should be the correct height for the APE board.

It's only the virtue board that has problems, because they want to be cheap and sell the G3 board for the G3 Spec R/G4.

I thought the ape G3 and G4 board were the same, the only difference being the button?

As for my board it is a micro-switch (at least I am 99% sure it is, I'm at work so I can't double check right now)...

take your frame off the gun and the board out. put the button pad on first, then the ball in and the board after and see what it does.

when my button pad fell completely off, i took my frame off, and then just superglued it back on and let it sit for a few days to make sure it was completely dry and have no problems.

This was what I was going to do, just super glue it back in, but now that I am looking at it, I am pretty sure the board button is too close to the "opening" for the silver button. As in the board button is actually sitting in that window, instead of being slightly recessed. When noodles said that the silver button should be sitting in that opening, I saw that it was perfectly spaced for that so I'll have to try and see if the board can be SLIGHTLY moved back a bit.

I've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to, but I'll try in the next few days.

Thanks so much for your guy's help so far.

Totally forgot about this thread. Here is what I did:

Took board out (did some cleaning while I was at it), then put it in and screwed the screws about 3/4 the way in. Then I pushed the board forward as much as I could (there is a little play), then tightened the screws. Now the button is working perfectly like a charm.

So just in case someone else runs into this problem, there ya go!
