Best ways to get fit for paintball?

Hey everyone,

I've discussed this topic with a number of people on my Blitz team but wanted to see what other people to do get in shape for paintball (besides playing of course).

What do you do to get yourself ready?

Me:
I've been weight lifting a couple times a week and snowboard frequently. So far so good, but I definitely could amp it up to be more prepared for summer.

Just curious to see if there is anything essential I may be missing. I know cardiovascular function is huge here but since there is a lot of crouching, running, and quick explosive movement, what else can be done to train those reflexes?

If you're asking on a paintball forum how to get fit I'd lay off on the Twinkies, buddy.

Personally I prefer to take a dump before I suit up and ball...I run quite a bit faster

Look up "slacklines". Really good for balance building, fast maneuvering, etc.

For lower body: interval short distance sprints, box jumps, goblet squats, front squats, lounges w/ weights... all stuff I used rising through the ranks in hockey and I'm sure it will pay dividends on the field best of luck.

Yeah, you're right - my fat *** needs some help. I'll keep the sweet hostess dessert treats to a minimum... not sure if I can manage though.

Thanks Cmdr, that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I've been doing some squat action but it's probably a lot more important that I thought. I'll look into those.

Treadmill, and run with your gun up on it.
My appt complex workout center is so dead 98% of the time, I bring my gun in and run with it. Gentle jog then I run and try to keep my gun still while aiming. I jog, aim left, jog, aim right(left handed), jog, aim straight. I cant do this very long. Kicks my ***
