New products?

Hi, I just got back playing paintball (roughly about 3-4 years blank) and I was wondering when Marker makers bring out their new products each year, since I'm looking to buy something new, but don't want to buy one and look at a "new" one come out in a week or two of the purchase. (I'm planning on buying it new so)
Also this could also tell me when would be a good time to find a backup marker when the price dropps.

They come out like cars do. Usually the last quarter of the year. Not all marker companies make an annual model.

Yeah, some companies bring out new lines of markers every year (Dye for example), while most others come out with a few updates every couple years. There are 3 series' of A5 in the 10 years they've made them, while there are a ton of DM series. It just depends on the company!

They're usually released around/at World Cup each year, often in or around October. Right now is a good time to buy 2010 & 2011 models, while supplies last.

Honestly, there isn't a lot of updating that happens from year to year.

They usually get a bit lighter, or have different milling. Performance is more or less capped out until the next big innovation (or until they start making BW bolts, etc. standard) happens.

Like nerdcore said, now is a great time to pick up cheap 2010 and 2011 models while stores are still sitting on their last bit of inventory.

If you want used, wait until September/October to pick up the 2012 models people are using now. They'll be selling them off left and right in anticipation of picking up a 2013 at Cup.

PSP World Cup, held in mid to late October every year, is the generally accepted public release date for new products. The vast majority of companies will release their next generation product lines at the event or within a week of it. Since PSP World Cup already happened, now is your best bet for finding good deals on 2010/11 products that haven't yet sold. The value of used equipment has also dropped by now so this is a good time to swoop on used stuff as well.

Nothing "yearly" will be coming out soon. Some brands release guns when they have significant differences between the current and next gen models, but there is no telling when they are going to release something new.
