Sp-1 firing eractically

Well, I got a good deal on 2 used SP-1's. My friend's gun is shooting erratically. The SP-1 is all stock, running a non a/s c02 tank. We put a pod of Draxxus paint thru it today, it fired about 30 shots in semi, worked flawlessly, switched to 3rd burst, gun fired about 6-9 shots, gun wouldn't shoot but solenoid was still beeping for every shot pulled. Then we switched to Full Auto, fired about 10 shots, it stopped mid stream, still beeped then shot again.

Paint is about a month old, battery is an eveready ( I think this may be the issue but haven't confirmed it yet.) The guns were disassembled and re-lubed with dow33 when I got them.

p.s. I am just getting back into paintball, I know that HPA is better then c02 and prices on tanks have dropped to affordable levels, please don't lecture me on the benefits of hpa vs c02, its just in my budget right now.

Have you made sure that you are in CO2 mode? Everytime the battery is changed, You have to check the CO2/HPA mode.

As far as battery type, I have run into the issue with the battery. A nice fresh DURACELL is the answer.

Later,
Blackrain

it could be any number of things..

battery..fresh and new doesnt always mean the battery is good..doesnt have enough charge to keep up consistency ..

lube.. too much or too little could be a problem causing the bolt to stick.

velocity..sometimes its an issue, find a crono and make sure you have adjusted properly.. guessing doesnt work.

noid could be going ..

lines inside could going..

not going to preach about the hpa vs Co2 but it causes an issue as well..even if the marker is set to use the Co2..

may be firing at a rate that is not allowing the Co2 to fully expand and charge the system correctly, or as you said using withough an anti syphon could cause to marker to "freeze" up faster ... Co2 is tempermental .. if its cold out side it sucks..if its too hot outside..it sucks.. ect...

if you can try using a friends hpa tank for testing..

if you want to get rid of them both..pm me..lol.

as well, as stupid as it may sound..

Make sure the grip screws are not overly tightened....usually it was always the top one on my sp1.. it would cause an issue with the trigger for some reason..

once i got it in my head to watch how much I was tightening the screws I stopped having the issue.

I have played paintball off/on for 20+ years, I know the pros/cons of C02, plus I live in Fl, so weather isnt a factor this time of year.

That would only rule out if C02 was the problem and it wasn't.

Sure, trade me 2 working Etek 3's and you can have them

We have encountered that as well, but that wasn't the issue

Ok.. good for you.. No ones calling you a noob.

YOU asked for help..then You reply to my suggestions breaking each one down with some sort of pissy overtone like I called your mom a whore..I gave a list of potential issues since s*** happens and again.. YOU ASKED FOR HELP

for someone who has been playing as long as you claim and having owned 5 sp1s one would think the battery would have been the first thing ya checked

and on your wishful thinking of a trade for two eteks... HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.. Even if it wasnt meant as a joke..BWWWWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAH...
Good luck on that trade

sp1 on CO2

I have noticed that if you shoot a sp1 on co2 you need to make sure you are using a anti siphon tank. If for some reason liquid co2 is entering the system then you will get a stop down so the sp1 can vent the extra...
other than that I have never had a problem with my sp1s shooting paint then randomly not shooting. I would change the orings on the bolt and give it a fresh lube. I hope you get that beast back into shape.

O, and I believe that GOG will tech a sp1 if you call them.

I realize that, but if you had read my post, most of your suggestions were already done,

a.) Go back and read it again, I said 5 SP GUNS, not SP-1's.
b.) If I had a fresh battery at the time, don't ya think I would have tried that first ?

I pretty much figured it was the battery, but didn't have any fresh ones laying around. I had some on order from ANS, so I was waiting on them to arrive when this happened. My buddy didn't believe me when I said it was the battery, so I posted here for him to read for himself. I wasn't going to rush out and spend 7.00 for 2 coppertops when I had 8 Energy Paintball 1100 mah's less then 2 days away.
