Hydroing a tank

i know its a stupid question lol, but when there's a date on the tank - is it the expiration date for the hydro or the date it was tested?

Carbon fiber tanks are usually 5 year hydros, and steel tanks are 3 year. The date is when the tank was born, or re-hydro'd.

So if you have a carbon fiber tank with a date of 04/10, you'd need to have it re-hydro'd when 04/15 came around.

Here is a link to a thread explaining it. Do not assume that all carbon fiber tanks are automatically a 5 year tank.

plushdragon helped look for balloons
to the op

you should see a dot number (google that to see if your tank on a 3 or 5 year cycle). after the dot there should be numbers like 04@10 that says the first tank date was april of 2010. also to the op cf tanks have a 15 years use from first test date.

just a tip when you get it hydro tested- send it to the same brand if you can, just about all of them give you a reg swap anywhere from free-$10 and you may get a small discount too for being "loyal"
