haha ya it is expensive. I do get my seasons pass for free though through patrolling and my local mountain is only 16 miles away.
I will say that I can't seem to get enough of the fix from dh longboarding though. It's just in a realm of it's own.
Thats pretty cool. For me i'd have to drop at least like $300+ a year if I wanted a pass, and its anywhere from 1-2 hours to get to the mountain from me depending on where I want to go. Plus then the costs of gear on top of that and it would set me back quite a bit. I still play paintball and longboard obviously so I feel like I already have enough expensive hobbies haha
I just had a great day of of boarding. To start out a traded my blackdog shallowdrop for a landyatchz chinook. I drafted and got bumped for the first time. I hit 40 which was a milestone for me. When i got back my slide a's came in so great longboarding day.
That's not too bad of a problem to have. We have a hill on a major highway here that looks like it could be so promising if it had nice pavement. Unfortunately its extremely rough chip-seal and has a ton of traffic on it. I know 2 guys who have done it anyways and were doing ~50 on it with the chip-seal.
Also I just posted a quiver pic on the fish but I cheated by adding in snowboards. I can't believe how many boards some people have.
I have a dh board and a freeride board that I use for most of my skating. Then I have a mini, a big freeridey double kick, and an extra DH deck that I have as a loaner. Then I have another deck which is gonna be my next main freerider once my current one dies. And on top of that i have another 4-5 boards that are community boards for my brother/friends/neighbors. And i've only been skating for like a year and a half haha.
Some friends and I are throwing a race in a few weeks. Today we had some fun at that hill taking practice runs and making this vid. Enjoy!
I AM GOING TO CALIFORNIA.... soon. Probably next 'season' for some races.. you're lucky you get have events yeaar round.
I can't wait to get some of the blue slide a's.. also skateboards are like magnetically attracted to you once you get the bug.
This hill is like a 5 minute push from my house and just so happens to end up on our favorite slide hill...
not fast by any means, consider it a warm up.. like a light jog.
That's my buddy josh wright and those are the sublime powerslides that the yuppies helped develop. Very cool tech slide wheel but you need some medium width trucks, too wide and too narrow ****s with their wear patterns and it's harder to keep them round.
i had those for a week and i hated them they where too sreachy so i traded it to someone who works at advanced slide labs for slide a's. im going to start making a vid once i get a tri pod and put those song in the back round. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDuq9VR_pzg
jk
Definitely man that sounds sick, I'm looking forward to it.
When you go fast and the powerslides are new the screech becomes like a whistle, it's funny. And try out the smaller size first, why are you putting risers on your chinook?
