APE Rampage Board - G3

Just received my board, looks amazing, before I install however I know I am missing the original battery hookup that came with the original board. (I am the 2nd owner). Anyhow, could I pick one up at radioshack or is this something special...its just that two prong connection with the white clip.

BTW I am in no way blaming APE for this...

**Side Question - anybody come up with some creative way to use non-conductive glue and some supports for the oled board...seems a tad wobbly or fragile I guess...

Any standard two prong battery connector can be used.

Finding the connector is tough without buying the batter with the connector attached. RadioShack had plenty of 9v connectors but no ends.

dont use any type of glue at all no matter what kind it may be.. you will end up needing to take the OLED screen off.

I was referring to glue it to the board but not the screen, using some type of foam supports so the screen does not wobble around but not gluing the supports to the screen...

Installed the board tonight and everything appears to be working normally except the eyes. I believe I have the stock eyes and the board constantly thinks a ball is in the breach when there is not, even when I stick my finger in there pull the trigger and remove my finger then pull...always considers a ball in the breach. Do I need to upgrade the eyes for it to work properly?

BTW, when I pull the trigger the eyes flash each time...not sure if its significant

Just to clarify, if you gas up your marker (so that we know the bolt has retracted, and the breech is empty), and then turn on the board, the board still registers that there is a ball in the breech?

Correct. Nothing in the breach. Bolt fully retracted.

Initially, I would clean the eye elements, check the eye harness for any obvious damage, and make sure that there are no bent or broken pins in the boards eye socket.

I have the gun apart. Eyes are spick and span. No bent connectors. The eyes just flash when the triggers pulled. Tried adjusting the eye settings on the board. No change.

What eye mode are you using on the board?
Have you actually tried shooting paint, or has this testing all been conducted by blocking the eyes with your finger?

I've tried shooting paint which does work just fine. When I run out of paint however it still fires and doesn't detect no ball in breach. I am all on std at the moment. I've tried all different combinations of the eye settings. If I have it on advanced it eventually detects no ball in breach by it has to fire twice before it detects it.

Probably won't make any difference, but try the iFault eye mode instead - that might be what you mean by 'advanced'. I find that iFault mode works best.

Right on I will give that a shot a report back.

Well I have it in the fault and it works sorta. It will have to fire at least three times before noticing no ball in breech. After noticing no ball in breech it then proceeds to assume there is a ball in the breech when there isn't again.

After this cycle goes through about three times it will finally stay on no ball in breech until I load more paint in it.

Do you have a spare set of eyes that you can try?

Unfortunately I do not. Was going to get some thinking that this was the issue.

After cleaning the eyes, checking the wires and socket, and trying different eye modes, and assuming the stock eye delay settings (that should be fine), there's not much left other than the eyes and board themselves. Do you know anyone else with a G3 who you could swap eyes with, just to check? Or dso you still have the stock board in your spares box?

I have all the boards I've ever used. The eyes work fine with the 7th element board have not tried the stock however.

Don't know anyone with a g3 like me. Most of the people I play around have minis or bob longs. I am old school. So to speak.

Try the stock board as well, and if the eyes work with that too, I would have to presume that there was an issue with the board, and suggest that you contact APE direct.
