pump paintball decision!!!!

Im new to the nation and pump has always been interesting to me. Would it be something worth investing some money into and will it help my overall skill in paintball? And if it does, then what does it help? Id love some help in deciding

I think it's a variation in terms of strategy and playing style. It will help you identify angles, defensive weak spots, and actual aiming associated with the game. I found myself playing different than when I used my semi.

Just to add: yes, it will help your game. Yes, it'll be cheaper in the long run due to a much lower potential ROF. I think every paintball player should have a pump as well as their semi.

Don't spend alot until you know that your going to stick with it. Get a cheap sniper or tracer.

Tracer is not a bad entry level gun. Its tube style design like a Phantom. I have seen guys tearing it up with Tracers.

I'd look for a trilogy pump. Cheap and it's a sniper (easier transfer from semi).

Sure! Just remember that the greatest upgrade you can get for your pump is a barrel kit.

Be careful, you can't discuss trading gear outside of the BST forums.

Everyone is right about what parts of your game it helps. I have found it helps the thought process and corresponding actions in paintball. It does this because you cannot hide behind your gun like you can if you get in a sticky situation playing semi. It also helps your wallet! Which in turn helps you play more. You will enjoy it if you give it a try.

If you are looking to get into play pump here are the markers that I would look at that are relatively inexpensive:

Tippmann SL68II
Good - cheap, easy to work on, has autotrigger, can be used to hammer tent pegs in when bunkers fall down
Bad - very limited barrels since it is a slip fit (can be fixed using electrical tape or nail polish to hold paint in barrel)

Azodin KPII
Good - AC threads, hitman mod included, regulated
Bad - No autotrigger, feedneck is a love it or hate it

Empire Trracer
Good - AC threads, easily modded (lots of mil-spec rails), auto trigger, light, stock class feed easily available
Bad - didn't use the old grip frame so my CCM 86* frame does not fit

If you have the money, I would pick up the Empire Sniper.
Bang for your buck it is a great gun and comes with alot of stuff that will keep you going pump wise (autotrigger, barrel kit, stock class feed, good parts kit, hitman mod)

When I started playing in 2004, I started with an old Trracer and had a blast (and still have the gun). If you are playing with the right group, this can be alot of fun. It works alot of the mental game that is paintball and helps you learn alot of skills that are not used as much when using a semi.

that one you have from gateway is a steal!! sell the double trigger, buy a single trigger and get a barrel + if you really want lighter reg and you'll be picking guys off
but actually you can probably get a nice sniper used for 150 bux with some upgrades

Yea I say get a sniper to start with, its a great way to start to learn basics. Then when you get better (if you stick to the "Decipline'') you can get something fancy later on.

Peace-

You will not find a better starter pump then the one you linked to us. It's under 200 and will shoot great. Just get a 50 rd loader and use your cuttent tank and you'll be good to go!
