I especially don't give paint to the people I regularly play with.

I have given away cases of paint over the years. Most to new players or young ref/volunteers. I will always share a pod on the field to make a game last longer as well. In those cases it is going to someone that I know appreciates the gesture more than the paint.

If you come off as a mooch or a freeloader you will turn me into a stingy bastard. No paint for you!

this is always a somewhat gray area for me, and really, it depends on a few factors. if its during a game, and it's a little kid who's in my bunker/area, i'll probably give a half a hopper. if its between games, im 90% likely to NOT give them paint, especially if they are there with a group/parents. in that case, i feel that it should be the parents buying them paint, not me. paint is expensive.

i'm also much more likely to give paint to somebody who is running/trying to move up and actually be in the game, than to somebody who is basically hanging out in the rear long balling all game. for the most part, though, i made a conscious decision a while ago that i'm just not going to give people free paint. if its somebody i know has more paint at the staging area and is just out for that game, i'll offer a pod in exchange for a pod later.

I'll give paint in a game, most of the time, pod for pod(depends on situation)

I used to give my left over paint to someone(still do if it's less than a pod) but now I go to a couple of byop fields and I now shoot rainbows :-)

I give paint away all the time. If I load to soon, I will give away the extra. If a new kid asks, I will give him some. etc...

Depends, I think a pod or 2 during a game is a good gesture. But anything over a hopper is probably too much. At my field, if anyone borrows something they usually offer to pay you back afterwards. I think it depends on the situation.

In a game, if somebody is holding an important bunker or something, I'm more than happy to give away a pod, especially to newer guys. Outside of that, you are on your own.

At the end of the day, if I'm carrying a few extra pods and some people will go back to the staging area unless they get more paint, I'll top a few people off just so there's enough to have one last decent game.

It definitely depends on the paint though; I won't give away a SINGLE Marbalizer paintball - I paid good money for that stuff. I also hesitate to give paint to rental players because they are just going to shoot that whole hopper in 2 minutes at nothing, lol.

Basically, I don't believe in giving away paint. I worked hard to pay for what I can BARELY afford. What I go home with at the end of the day I will use the next time I play. (Dry climate; paint lasts FOREVER here.)

If I bum paint off someone because Im out in the middle of the game I just tell them "Find me after the game and I'll give you paint back". Then I figure if it was a big deal to them, they will come and get the paint repayed. If not, and I dont see them, it obviously wasn't a priority or concern for the guy

As opposed to someone who can shoot a rope at 20 bps and empty a hopper in less than a minute and is ususally shooting at nothing :-)

Again, with me it all depnds on what is going on and who is asking.

.

No real difference there. A noob is a noob whether they're shooting a rental or ramping an Ego 11. I won't give a significant amount of paint to either of the two.

At my field, we sometime give paint to players via various scenarios or objectives.

I.E: if it's a "capture the flag" game, we'll put a pod full of paint right next to the flag. First one to grab the flag can keep the paint (we also sometimes put promo items (tshirts, free items, free upgrade vouchers) next to scenario objectives.

It's a nice and cheap way to increase the will of players to complete objectives.

We have a scenario where both teams start with a flag at their spawn point. There's a 2 story tower at the middle of the field accessible via a ladder from the 1st floor. The objective is to yet your team's flag in the second floor of the tower before the other team can do so. The thing is that when going from the first to second floor (via a ladder), you are exposed from ALL sides so you really need to work with your team and you might get shot multiple times when trying to go up the ladder.

That's why we sometime put a pod of paint up there as a "reward" for the player.

Tossing that last bag out of a case to the kid having a birthday rental party when I'm done for the day, sure, the look on the kids face when he finds out he can get yet another game in that day is totally worth it.

Even topping off a hopper between two quick turn around games, and having a bit left in the pod, I'll ask "who needs a top off?" instead of dumping it on the ground or having it bouncing around in my pack.

But I got to say I've never given paint to someone panhandling for it. That's just asking too much.
I do this often. Ill find the youngest player with the least amount of paint usually. The parents 9 times out of ten offer to pay me for it but i wont take the money. Seeing the kid happy is more than enough for me. i also at a scenario game gave away one of my etra packs to the young gun who got a Goggle system and gun but didnt have a pack. i filled up a few pods and gave them to him with the pack

It really depends for me. I have given paint to a little rental because he was out on the feild or if i have some extra in a pod I'll top off a couple but nothing too big, but hey if it helps the sport grow it's all good.

Since I usually play with semi guys I'm the one with extra paint at the end of the day so sure. If I can get an extra game out of it before we pack it all in. The gesture isn't quickly forgotten either. Or if I just head out and there's guys still playing I'll toss them my paint.

I give away paint all the time, whether it's a pod in the middle of a game or to fill a renters hopper who wouldn't otherwise be able to play the next game, however when someone asks me directly for some of the paint that I just paid $80 a case for... the answer will always be no.

Depends on what I'm shooting. Evil will just gum up their gun so that wouldn't make for a good time. If I'm shooting premium I might give 'em a hopper full.

I'm satisfied that most of you will be willing to give up paint to some lucky players. It will hopefully motivate them to keep playing, but I hope they don't think it's a regular thing.
