Giving paint to rentals?

As though the title may be deceiving, how do you guys feel about giving a rental paint? I don't mean 3 or 4 guys, just one person.

I was playing last Sunday with my friends and we went to go to the airball fields with our caddys because it would have taken too long to walk all the way back to get paint (If you go to Sc Village, it's a pain in the ***). Anyway, there were a bunch of guys practicing and Mike Mesa from Dynasty was there kind of running it all. I thought it was really cool. Anyway, they closed the field I guess and everyone left. So we left too. My friend and I went to the hyperball fields. Well, this family wanted to play with just each other, some guy comes up to me and says "Hey man, that's a lot of paint. Can I have some?" So I give him some. In fact a hopper full.

I'm all for it so that we can make rentals have a great experience, but I don't know about giving away paint. It just seems like they'll get too used to it.

Post what you think

Depends what the field rules are. If the place only allows field paint in their rentals, you could get that person's rental taken from them resulting in them being booted from the game, or even asked to leave the field for not following the rules.

I used to work swing shift in the afternoons, and left at lunch. So when I had paint leftover I'd usually find a renter/newb to give it to. FPO of course

Tossing a pod to a rental during a game so we can work together to get the win, or hold off the inevitable defeat a bit longer (both equally fun), oh yeah, I'll do that no problem.

Tossing that last bag out of a case to the kid having a birthday rental party when I'm done for the day, sure, the look on the kids face when he finds out he can get yet another game in that day is totally worth it.

Even topping off a hopper between two quick turn around games, and having a bit left in the pod, I'll ask "who needs a top off?" instead of dumping it on the ground or having it bouncing around in my pack.

But I got to say I've never given paint to someone panhandling for it. That's just asking too much.

But I'm talking about someone that is just coming to the field with his family for bonding. Then coming up to me asking for paint. I kind of found it disrespectful, since my field is BYOP, but they sell paint anyway. Although, it was the end of the day, and I was just about to leave. He just asked for a hopper full.

It could be a regional cultural thing. Around here if you ask people for paint it's considered rude and no one will give you any, but if they have extra and know you need it they'll generally give it to you with out you needing to ask. Pretty much an unwritten rule. We're generous folks, but we don't abide freeloaders.

That's kind of how it is around here. The only time I've ever heard anyone ask for paint is between long matches, and most of the time they'll say "that's enough" after like 20-30 balls.

I might give a pod to a rental if we were squaring off in a good match and I knew that he was going to use it effectively. If it was someone who was in the back that was begging for paint I'd say no and keep on towards hte dead box.

I don't believe in just giving away paint though if someone asks for me to give them paint.

If it's a kids birthday I'll toss him a bag if I am headed out for the day, it's always fun to see them get so excited.

Scenarios are different for me though, I tend to only give paint to those I know and trust.

I see paint being dished out to beginners all the time. Usually it goes to a guy who has been there all day mixing it up with the regulars and really having a great time. Towards the end of the day the crowd will start to dwindle down and the regulars will see their new friend sitting this game out and thats all it takes for a hopper and maybe then some to be donated. Honestly I have never seen hospitality to newbies like I do at my field, part of the reason I stick around. Obviously you only get 1 fill, cant buy one bag and play all day but if your a nice person and have fun, people want to see you come back and if that means giving away a pod of paint so be it.

Agreed......I think the difference would be if you played a few games with them prior to them asking for paint.

I usually don't share paint. Then again, no one really asks. Oddly enough, i'm offered paint fairly often, and i don't know why.

I play pump, and often purchase more paint than I can use.
Giving it away cuts down on what I have to throw out later.

Of course, giving it to those on my own team takes precedence while the game is going on.
Otherwise, it's the kids with rentals that will appreciate it more than the twibs who already went through 3 cases.

If I were to give anyone paint, I would expect to get that much back when the game is over, or pay me for it. Paint isn't cheap.

I usually don't give any paint to rentals, because they're probably going to waste it. Even if I have extra at the end of the day, I save that for next time. I don't have much moneys to spend on paint... It all adds up eventually.

like mentioned before I would never give paint to a panhandler. i would however give paint to people who needed topped off, or if i am on my way out and only have a pod left.

I can understand that, but seeing as I'm 16 and without a job, I need all the paint I can get.

I've never given paint to anyone but my homies who I play with. I've never had anyone ask me for paint, and I would never give any away to a stranger either. It's my money, go buy your own paint! ****in' scrub! lol
