Coilovers

Totaled my 2000 VR6. I am wanting to get another Jetta and I came across this. It's older than my previous car but I am really liking this one. I saw that it was slammed and I asked about it. He said it was lowered on Coilovers. Are these good?

Offer less than he's asking even with the modifications it's still high, coilovers allow for ride height adjustment. I had an audi 90 with a similar motor, it was pretty fun to drive for the $200 i spent for it, nice daily drivers.

Yeah I know to kick the tires and what not... This isn't my first used car purchase. Are coilovers okay?

in short yes if the ride height matches the shocks you'll know in the first 5 min of driving over any bumps if they are set to a good height

They're dangerous because he is trolling.

Coilovers are the right way to lower a car.

This, as long as it has been properly aligned after dropping it.

Then proceed to cringe as the guy at Tire Discounters rev's the **** out of your clutch trying to get it up onto the lift. Then cringe again as he has to back out and put 2x4s out to actually get it up the ramp. And it's not even that low.

op, if you don't even know what coilovers are,, buy a toyota camry, or a nissan sentra..

don't bother buying a tuner type car. not trying to be rude, just honest.

Once upon a time you didn't know what coilovers were either. It doesn't mean that he can't learn off a car he buys.

Chances are that since you don't know what coilovers are, you won't know how to replace the heater core either.

Have fun

for 2800 asking price, that's really not that to off. offer him 2300 and go to 2400 cash he should take it.

As far as the raceland coilovers go, they are Stainless steel 2pc that seem to be well constructed. Like said above, the lower you go the bouncier it get's because they are still a budget coilover, and the valve inside is not variable like the higher end coilovers. However, that said check for leaks on or around the coilover, they do tend to blow if lowered to much.

Me, if it seems to run well, And the coilpack is not cracked (check for this, common on that year jetta and golf) it seems like a decent price and car, raise it up a little bit so it's a little more driver friendly and have at it.
