Laptops need help.
I have two laptops. Both are broken. I took them to a local computer store to have them checked out. The Toshiba Satellite has a broken mother board. The Compaq is broken too but not sure what exactly is wrong with it. I would like to part these computers out but I don't really know what to part out when I sell these. What exactly should I be looking for? The computer tech's already took the Toshiba apart so I don't have to take it a part of myself.

Unless they are a few months old, they will probably be worth next to nothing. Parts on consumer-level laptops are pretty proprietary, so you would have to find someone with the exact same model who wants your laptop as a donor rather than just getting a new one.
If it's a fairly recent laptop, the hard drive should be SATA and thus still usable, but they're worth almost nothing on the used market (maybe $30-$40)

He said I could get atleast a couple hundred out of both of them... I sold a really old Dell laptop on ebay for $80. I listed it as broken... Should I just put the Toshiba back together and sell it as broken??

if you've sold broken stuff for money...then why not sell more broken stuff for money. That seems to have answered your own question...

Or maybe you don't know what I'm asking?
This one is just for you, Hatchj, Would it be more effective to sell the laptops (Broken) as a complete unit? Or should I sell the individual (working) parts?

It will be a hell of a lot easier to sell it as a whole. The little parts will take forever to sell and won't get much monies.

Going off what I read at the time, I'm assuming you sold a broken unit (whole) on ebay....So that's kinda what I was going at. Parting out a computer sounds like a bad idea. (as far as a broken laptop goes)

It would def be a better bet to sell them as a broken laptop rather then part them out. Not many people by "PIECES" of laptops as hatchj has already said.

Yeah, that's what I figured. The dude that fixed my computer said that these parts are not necessarily interchangeable (I think someone stated that earlier). But because of this I was told that someone looking for that particular part might pay top dollar. But that's if anyone is looking for that part.

I doubt even someone looking for that specific part would pay top dollar again I know nothing about these laptops so unless they are within a couple months old I wouldn't pay more then say $10-$15 for any part on a laptop okay maybe one or two parts but again I would sell them off as a package.

Doesn't matter. The stuff is stolen and you know it. Whether or not you took it doesn't matter as much as you think.

That's some sound logic right there. I'm assuming you have a law degree?

Purchasing an item with the knowledge that the item may be stolen and then coming to find out it is stolen... That's a crime
Hope a mod sees this and bans you from selling anything on this site.

I didn't really want to post again to fancy you guys but since I'm bored.... The Toshiba is my friend's Dad's (Passed away last year). He owed my a significant some and gave that the toshiba satelite... It's a really nice computer. I actually posted it on here asking exactly what kind it was. Anyways my brother threw up on it and got some wet paper towels to clean it. That ****ed it up... The HP is an older one, it's rather cheap. Probably worth only $80. Anyways my friend Cole owed me money so he gave it to me too. It is REALLY ****ty. It was really slow so I tried to reinstall window but than I found out the disc drive was broken. I tried to use a USB to re-install windows but I didn't know how to do that. I took both laptop's to my local USPS Office. I ship a lot of stuff there with eBay and they told me they could fix computers so that's where I took it..... Now get off my nut's because I'm trolling like I have never trolled before!!!
