removing annoe

im in the process of stripping my luxe's annoe down so i can get it polished. the problem is...i cant figure out a way to "plug" up the gun so the oven cleaner wont go into internals of the gun.

i was told to try stuffing paper towls in the gun..then apply brake grease so it will prevent the liquids from going in. i went to walmart..kmart..autozone...advance auto...napa...you name it...no one in my area carries brake grease (havent tried lowes/home depot yet). anyone have any other suggestions? i was thinking of using this thick flexible plastic film i have sitting in my basement. i was gonna roll it up..insert it into my luxe for a tight fit..tape it up really well..and spray foam into the roll so the liquid wont go in. Another thing i thought about trying was instead of using brake grease..i would try either vaseline or marine grease.

From the sound of it I would advise you from trying to remove anodizing yourself. It can go wrong easily and is best left to someone that knows what they are doing.

brake grease?

dude. get a professional to strip a $1000+ gun.

Then, at least if he ****s up, you have a second chance at a fully functioning marker.

but completely stripping the gun will leave internal tubes without a finish

Why does everyone want to strip their guns! Aluminum is such a soft metal. If you scrape up against a rock with ano ehh its a small surface scratch if anything but with raw aluminum its all over.

The same with the internal bores of the gun. 1 grain of sand will rape a raw aluminum bore and could easily make the gun unusable.

That's why he was trying to mask the internals.
Doesn't matter anyway, doesn't look like he's coming back to read his own thread.
My opinion: stripping ano to polish and leave it like that is straight up retarded, er, sorry... mentally challenged.

The ano. people I have used don't like home removal jobs as it seems to make their jobs harder. With a marker of that price I would have a professional remove the ano, polish and clear coat it all in one shop. Just my $.02

If you're going to, use sodium hydroxide. Go to your local hardware store and buy powder lye, and once you dissolve the lye into the water, that's sodium hydroxide. Just don't leave it in too long or it will start to eat the aluminum, but I advise you let a proffesional do it.

Acid has it right, if you want to change the appearance of your marker, do it one of two ways.

Learn how to anodize, purchase equipment, and produce a remarkable finish.
Send it to someone that has the equipment and experience to anodize.

I would suggest not using oven cleaner Because when you are done, and if you send it off for someone to fix the problems, the pitting you will have will make your Luxe not pretty. That may be the first time I have typed pretty... Gotta go get a beer and watch some football.
