It's not exactly, but DYE is a major player in the paintball industry, and them succeeding in other industries will no doubt have an affect on ours.

Would be interested to know if these can take a hit though, because if so they'd make for awesome coaching goggles.

Hard to see them in this 'teaser' - but so far they look great and I hope DYE does well with them.

from what i understand, paintball is a larger industry than snowboarding. so i doubt they would abandon paintball. if ford started making airplanes, do you think they'd quit making cars? it seems smart since they already make goggles. i guarantee that every paintballer/snowboarder will want these. i do. and i do dabble in underwater basket weaving.

Seriously?

LOTS of paintball companies make products outside of our industry. This isn't news. Let's post up every time one of Valken's sprint car or power boat teams does something impressive. Maybe we can throw in another thread when Raza makes some new cycling apparel.

hows this for free time?

latest data i found quickly was from '07. paintball had 4.9 million participants, snowboarding had 5.2 million.

barely more participants, but from what i saw, there is more spending involved with paintball.

Excellent, glad Dye is looking to diversify its revenue stream a bit. If they can gain a bit of market share in other markets it means a stronger company over all. Slow economic times, diversifying a bit means your not 'putting all your eggs into one basket' so Dye has a future if something happens to paintball in North America.

you're all forgetting to include skiers...it's not like you need different goggles for skiing and snowboarding.

also, can we please stop using off the wall analogies about cars and airplanes?

This is probably the FIRST time I have EVER seen anyone cite their sources on PbN. I couldnt be more proud. Maybe not everyone on this website are complete idiots. You sir deserve a medal or something.

Side note: Underwater basket weaving looks legit. Count me in (never a dull moment on PbN. I can always count on a laugh or two).

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins forum.
