Spyder Pumps - Guide, links and info
WHAT IS A SPUMP?
A Spyder Pump is a Spyder that has been modified to a pump gun. Most Spumps (Spyder Pumps) are closed bolt designs, which means that the bolt when at rest is in the forward position and so is the ball that is going to be fired.
WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE A SPUMP?
The main things you need to make a Spump are...
A Spyder or Spyder Clone (preferably 2k5 or older)
A pump kit or you can make your own.
Tools such as drill press,
a dremel,
JB Weld,
Sandpaper,
Files,
Allen Wrenches
Screw Drivers
Or if you are lucky you can use a bridgeport, lathes and all your fancy stuff.
Yes you do need a barrel.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO MAKE A SPUMP?
This really does depend on how far you want to take it. You could run anywhere from 30 dollars to 200 even 300 dollars. If you want custom grips, anodizing, fancy pump kit and all the other jazz.
PICTURES OF SOME SPUMPS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE.

What? There's nothing to weld on a Spyder pump project. Did you mean JB Weld for the valve pin? That's just epoxy...

Hahahahah! I'm going to be playing some Frankenstein on the next gun I find at Goodwill!
I also might try half-blocking my Viewloader Triton II, so expect a thread here soon...
Wow, I love blowbacks!

I'm working on completely internalizing the gas line and adding a regulator.

Hey, quick question:
Are all Trilly pump kits threaded for Spyder/Spyder clone, or just the one you mentioned? Seems like a stupid question, but I thought that I saw something about modding a Trilly pump kit to fit on a Spyder. Just needing some clarifying before I start work!

I guess my question is, is the PMP kit the only kit you can use, or are all Trilly kits able to work?
I did search it, I was just wondering if the PMP is the ONLY kit that works, as that's all that's mentioned in every Spump thread I've come across...
Thanks!
Noah

PMP answer
To answer from experience in dealing with the PMP industry pump kit on a spyder. They don't sell it anymore and are rare to find so i'm going to burst your bubbles and tell you to just look at phantom pump handles that go over the barrel. Should you get ahold of a PMP kit it need to be for a a Trilly(autococker). The other autococker kits wont work. The reason being the shaft the pump slides on will thread into your LPC thread on your spyder. The rest of the kit still needs to be mounted how ever you plan on doing it. The barrel need to be straight on the outside as well, any fancy curves and it will interfere and probably not allow to the handled to mount.

If you want to be cheap about it, you could always take my approach and use a squirt gun as the pump. It's the piston kind and I stopped it from sealing, so now it just slides back and forth smoothy and effortlessly.
