meh. Is it bad that I'm 'excited' about a steam cleaner lol.
Any suggestions on a good extractor?

Any of you guys do this for a living/side job? If so, have any tips? Looking to make some extra money. i've read pretty much every thread about starting a business on autogeek/autopia, but i figure you can always learn more.

I worked at toyota for two years detaling new cars and show room vehicles. There are so many diffrent chemicles we use. Its a pretty good job from my experience. Espescially as a student, the hours were good.

I work at a ford stealership, and that's where most of my side jobs come from. If you want any kind of success at something like detailing, it's all reputation and word of mouth.

Put some Collinite 845 on my car the other day in preparation for winter. So slick.
Plastidipping my grill surround Friday. Wish me luck.

I started detailing on the side 5 years ago, and built my business up over the years using nothing more than word of mouth. Now I've got a shop.
Pretty much what was said above me, do honest work, if you make a mistake fix it instead of hiding it. People will pay for good work. Know what you're talking about and be willing to educate the customer. My biggest problem initially was getting all the chemicals and equipment. I'm still buying different detailing tools 5 years later.

atomic have you read any reviews at all? From my experiences Griots garage stuff isn't well made at all. I've had buffers fail in a matter of months with occasional use. The company is superb at backing up their warranty though.

Our last extractor was ~$2500 (50+ gallon, this thing is ****ing industrial sized) So anything less than that haha?
And the higher ups were talking about ordering one, I'm not sure if they have or not yet.

How would I go about getting extremely clear glass? As hard as I try and as many times as I micro fiber the **** out of my windshield/hatch/windows they always get that film on them, and it's a ***** to see out of at night in the rain with them fogging up.

Isopropyl alcohol should remove any oils and build up that would be allowing a film to form over.

Off the shelf, maybe... From the good webstores, doubtful. The LSP's the dealer would have likely can't hold a candle to anything offered from the good webstores.

And their wash likely gave your car a nice new swirl effect...

I told my SA not to wash my car one time. Of course, they still did. He could tell I was pissed and apologized. Next time I was in he had a bunch of pre-printed sheets in his desk that said "DO NOT WASH" which he put all over my car.
