Efficiency Upgrade for a mag, 1500+ rounds on a 68/45

Another one I forgot to post over here.

I am developing an insert for the shot chamber that anyone will be able to droop in and get better efficiency. And my efficiency mod actually works. So far anyway. I still need to send out the prototypes and get some feed back before I start producing them.

I should mention that if I was paying attention I would not have chopped as I kept running out of paint in the hopper, I also had a part come loose in the grip frame but I have fixed that since., but it is not a user test, or a pneumatics test but an efficiency test thank god.

So in the first video I put 950+ rounds on a 3000 psi hot fill. Meaning I used the 3000 psi fill station and went to test and did not re up before.

Now for the 4500 test. I did not realize that I was not out of air but that a chop was causing shoot down so I had the camera turned back on and that is why there are two videos.

And here is how I did it

I took the small tapered piece that y0da900 made for the reverse mag and fit it to some 1/2" PVC the length of the shot chamber.

Here are the three to send off for duplication. Two for the classic and one for the X-valve

Not sure yet on the price but it will not be much. Once I know the time it took to produce one I will have an estimate on the cost. I will know by this next weekend.

Cant wait to here a price. Did you have to change your velocity or anything after installing?

O ya. You have to turn it up. But that is how this mod works, smaller area, higher pressure

Very nice. I would love to see some more testing, and video's. Beta testing a big plus.

Looks like these will cost $12 to $15, shipped for the beta run with the requirement of feedback. Meaning the buyer needs to have purchased the red power tube oring and be prepared to pay attention to there air to ball consumption pretty closely as they play. Then report back those numbers and any tuning issues they had.

I need feedback so I cam make any needed changes before I have a bunch of these made.

Here is how to get into the shot chamber on a mag. If you want to devolumize your mag you will need to know this.

Also, here is the source to buy the shot chamber oring(the red oring). Mcmaster-car only sells them in packs of 100 so the oring store sells them one at a time..
1mm X 20mm Metric Buna-N 70 O-ring : The O-ring Store - Online O-rings, Seals & Repair Kits!, We make placing your o-ring order and getting o-rings as easy as possible!
There is the Lathe method and the drill press method

The drill press method(I think Loguzzzzzz did a thread on this once)
Get it clamped firmly into the jaws

Get it turning and use a hacksaw blade and cut about a 1/16" deep. (See the lathe pics for a better depth and location pic) It should unscrew with little effort once you cut deep enough. It is up to you what you crank on the two with to loosen it, but I dont suggest pliers unless you have many layers of Etape on it.

The lathe method.
Here is where you cut. 1.6mm back from the face.

Cut until it comes apart with some but not much force, trying it regularly so you dont cut to deep.

And done.

Here is how to get into the X-valve. I used the tools that most people will have available. Take your time and go slow.

Here are the tools minus a bench vise.
Adjustable pliers, a strip of plether and a vice

Clamp like this. Clamp it snug but dont over do it. Also use E-tape on the area the pliers will bite.

Now here is the hard part. Get a firm grip and slowley unscrew it making sure the pliers dont slip. Take your time and redo the tape if you are concerned about scratching the SS.

If you are lucky you will not destroy the red oring. Once you are done you need to clean the thread lock off both threaded areas and you will not need tools to get into it again. :shooting:

Very interested in this... I own two mags and I'd love to put two of these in them, considering mags are known to be air hogs.

I just "ordered" one for my x valve over on automags.org from hill.
If you PM him on here you could probably do the same.
I can't wait to see what I can with with my 90ci tank.
Right now I can just about shoot through everything I carry
(about 5-6 locklids and 250 round rotor =11-1200ish)
Shooting 3/4 of a case on one tank would be badass!

Got mine today as well, it appears to have a "small but mighty" vibe to it.
Won't be able to test until next Saturday.
