Hey Anthony, there are plenty of great answers spread throughout PBnation on this great question. Like with anything expensive like paintball, before making any purchases it's always a good idea to read product reviews first at
www.pbreview.com or other websites including PBNation where people meet to talk about certain guns. A great example is a5og.net or mcarterbrown.com/forums. You can learn great information just by casually perusing some of these threads, it can be fun too!
As for woodsball guns, anyone is going to tell you that you can't go wrong with a Tippmann marker as your first gun. Everyone has an opinion but that's probably going to be your most consistent one. Tippmanns are used by the experienced and novice player alike, great weapons in all conditions here in the Northwest. Other great brands include BT, Tiberius, Gog paintball, etc. Check them all out and good luck.
