Used 08 Ego for $450 or Brand new Etek 3 LT for $500?

Think Iv'e narrowed it down to these two markers, but I cant decide on which one. I want something with easy maintenance and that is very realiable.

Most people talk about how good an 08 Ego is, but they are still running for around $450 even at nearly 4 years old. I can pick up a brand new Etek 3 LT for 50 bucks more.

Decisions decisions.

Look harder, it's easy to find an ego8 for 400 or less. I got mine with a Virtue OLED board and the case for 350, a year ago.

With that said definitely get an ego8, one of the most solid guns made. Not that the etek isn't good but it's still an etek.

Used ego > new etek

Well why dont you help me out. Find me an 08 Ego with a Virtue board for 350, because iv'e looked for several days and for several hours and couldnt find one.

I think your the one who also told me that I could find an Ego 5/6 for less than 150 without even looking.

Thanks for the opinion though.

I had the same opportunity and decided to go with a new gun. For some reason I just like to be the first and only person to own it. I would go Etek. After all its just a downgraded ego.

Ego 7 or ego 8 over the etek 3 everytime. The ego 7 or 8 will be broken in making it shoot smoother, more efficient and more consistent than the etek 3. Ego's have better triggers, and even though it isn't needed, the oled board is far superior to the led board on the etek 3. Much easier to program with, and to see all your settings.

Tl;dr Ego 7 or 8

Ego8 easy. I have shot every ego and etek. The ego8 was my favorite (besides the 11) and the etek wasn't nearly as smooth or quiet as the ego. The LCD screen makes switching between modes and adjusting the settings (dwell, eye delay, etc) very easy.

No it isn't, you cannot put ego parts on an etek and make it an ego, they made sure of that when they design them.

I don't agree. They are made by the same manufacturer and carry some of the same characteristics, except one is brand new. They both have Deftek offset feed tube, cure bolt etc.

In comparison to the Ego8, the Etek3 has the LPR vent over the Ego8, the S3 HPR, SL8R LPR and the newer OOPS, and the elimination of two lengthths of LP hose. Also, the Etek3 has very similar grips to that of the Ego10 and Geo.

etek 3 all the way you will never find any parts for an 08 and the etek shoots soo much smoother after you break it in, and it has the newer planet eclpise technology

FYI... Etek 3 grips are NOTHING like Ego 10 grips. You're validity in this forum is not even questionable, please stop posting nonsense.

and for the OP.... I have owned both an etek 3 and an ego 08(check my feedback if you don't believe me) and I can honestly say that the Ego 8 that I had way outperformed the Etek 3. I liked how it felt more ergonomically, and how it shot. I had problems with the etek shooting when degassing/gassing. Not to mention it was abnoxious to shoot.

My ego8 shoots +/- 3 fps, even after sitting in the case for 3 months and almost a year after the last time I lubed anything but the rammer.

SL8R = ego8 so your point about the lpr doesn't matter

the etek3 OOPS is the same as that of an ego8

Yes, there are people like that. I know a few of them and they don't bother with coming on because of people who spout out random nonsense about a gun that they just bought and know nothing about, nor do they know anything about any other guns that are being used in any playing style. Instead, they prefer people to come into their shop.

However, when you are trying to give people information, it is good to have actually used or have decent experience with what the OP is asking an opinion on. If you don't, then you have no experimental data to back up your claim (sorry to get a sciencey, but I'm a physics major. Kinda used to it.)

And no, an Etek3 is not a downgraded ego. It is similarily shaped and uses some of the same parts like the bolt and asa, but the ego has different internals that are not compatable with the etek.

To OP: You are going to get mixed opinions on here. Some people would prefer to have a new gun, others would say go used and get a older high end. In the end, it is up to you. Go to your local field and see if you can try each marker from local players. See which one you like better. If it does help, ego parts for 2007 egos and up can still be found relatively easily simply because there are so many 2007 and 2008 egos being used.

one of my concerns about the 08 ego is the QEV, iv'e heard there to be several problems with them. I know the 09 has no QEV...
