I dont think hes worried about the added complexity, i think hes wanting to do it so he could say he did it and it would be very cool and original

Understandable, seeing as how I am doing the Ion build for basically the same reason. However, I can barely even begin the think about how it could be done, being the pneuma-noob that I am. I'll mull it over and see if I can come up with anything. It's going to be a far cry from the design I have posted here, that much is certain.

Also, anyone here know the maximum cyclic rate for an Ion? I think it's somewhere around 30-35cps, but I wasn't sure.

Neat, but there are only two selections? Semi and F/A?

How do you throttle the F/A?

The full auto cycling speed is intended to be controlled by a flow control valve between the air source and the pressure relief valve. It's not perfect, but hopefully it will work. The only problem I see is that the cycle rate can probably only be adjusted so low before the marker will cease to fire. Not sure how low yet, since I haven't built it.

And yes, full and semi auto are the only selectable options. Burst capability would be nice, but it would also make the design far more complicated.

I see. I assume you are using some sort of needle valve to control flow. Have you taken a look at what Beswick sells? They have all kinds of micro fittings and flow control valves.

I was planning to order the parts from Palmer's(the only place I have found that sells everything I would need), but I'll give them a look.

And yes, I believe it is a needle valve.

Edit: Got the 3-ways/hoses, hoping to order the other parts next Friday(was going to be this Friday, but it is delayed due to my car needing a new exhaust system). Will post pictures and such as the build progresses.

Edit: I think I may have figured out a way to make this a two-stage trigger similar to the one used on a Steyr AUG...I may build another one to use as a Milsim gun.

Well, I now have no doubt that it will work. I stumbled across this while trying to find a cheaper source for a QEV:

http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/qeva...mo-t17810.html

A fellow named Psycix built a 6mm bb gun that operates almost exactly like the design I have drawn here. The only real difference is that my design uses the "popoff" valve to pilot the QEV, which is then used to pilot the spool valve that is the bolt. Since I will have a smaller dump chamber, I should expect a higher rof than his design had for the same operating pressure.

most pneumags are quite tempermental even when fabricated and setup well

usually in pneumatic assisted triggers the problem stems from the fact that the trigger pull coming from the person can be highly inconsistent

electro's avoid this problem because once you pass the point of no return (ie activate the microswitch, break the opto beam, etc) the electronics of the marker take care of the full cycle regardless of how soft or hard you hit the trigger, or how long you held the trigger in for that matter

Would you like a vid of my pneumag shooting, It's as consistent as any electro on semi. And yes it all does in fact depend on set up of several components. Also like any other marker on semi...your fingers

It couldn't hurt to post a video.

Here she is, my pneumag....No paint and very little air, like 1400 psi, which for a mag is very little. I will make another shooting vid with paint once I fill my scuba tank and get paint.... if there are still haters

yours looks to be set up very well, trigger pull is a tad long but you know what, its way lighter than any mech. I miss my old mag now , Ill make another one someday....

I think the lightest sear linked pull your going to find on a mag is a sear modded ULT thats been tuned right

The trigger pull is very long right now because I lost the top trigger stop but can be set from mouse click to what it at now. As for lightest trigger pull I can pull my trigger with a straw (showed a many people) and also can adj so much my safety can activate the msv2

Ordered a bunch of barbs and the flow control valve this morning. Should finally be ordering the other parts on Wednesday or early Thursday.

Hoping to have it ready to play by thanksgiving.

Will do. However, it now seems more likely to be Friday. Found a very nice deal on some other equipment(ion, eggy, nitrogen tanks), so I'll probably snag that on Wednesday or Thursday. Hard to pass up a great deal.

Why not just RT the trigger, so that it keeps coming off and on the 3-way?

Like a Tippmann RT, not a Pneumag RT. Then you only need that one 3-way where the trigger is and that's it.

While that would be somewhat simpler, it wouldn't really be full-auto. It would be more like bump firing. Plus, I would still need another valve to shut off the rt capability so I could use it on semi-only fields.

Also, I apologize for the lack of updates. I recently got a new girlfriend, so priorities got shuffled around a bit. I am hoping to have it finished by Christmas. Now, to put the phone down and get to tinkering with it...
