to all slg owners that think their UL boards are done after changing their batteries!
Just picked up a slg UL over the weekend and noticed the battery that was in the gun was dead so I changed from the stock proto to a duracell procell. After changing the battery the gun would not always turn on, and when it did the led would always fade and then the board would shut off.
Turns out the proto batteries are a little longer than the standard duracell or energizer 9v, the cure to this problem is to put a piece of paper on the bottom of your 9v to push it forward once installed. This will make a more solid connection between the battery prongs on the board and the battery terminals.
YOUR BOARDS ARE NOT FRIED! You're now saved

... or you could very carefully bend the tabs down slightly... Are people SERIOUSLY having problems with this? this is such a retarded thing for people to overlook...

you also have to realize that some beginners/tournament players are as you put it "retarded", and don't realize that while the battery feels like it is put in correctly, there still may not be a solid connection.

if they use battery prongs as opposed to 9v adapter that is wired, then it may.

My 09 UL SLG started doing this sort of thing all by itself, with the stock battery. I hadn't had the battery out of there since the day I got the gun. Shimmed it with paper and now it's working fine.

The basics use a battery harness so you don't have to worry about that problem. The ul frames are the ones you have to mess with.

my 08 SLG uses the 9v harness, and i've had this problem almost from day one. although mine never dims or shuts off, it just has trouble turning on sometimes, and no, it's not because the battery is dying.

A MUCH SAFER and more reliable fix, is to cut a small slit of thin cardboard, and piece it between the frame and the connecter tabs... This will prevent the tabs from being pushed up, and you wont risk snapping them off by bending them anymore.
