Packed my uniforms away for good the other day. Vacuum sealed bag and whatnot (for the grandkids). I'm heading back up north for a week to see the family for the first time since I got out (hell, for the first time in over 2 years). I'm finally saying goodbye to my time spent wearing a funny costume and juggling for Uncle Sam. Last thing I need to do it scrape those last 2 sets of base stickers off my vehicles.

Yea, I know, I should have done it 6 months ago.

i was in columbus ohio for the toronto fc soccer game
they had some marines there. talked to a dude that was in helmad for a bit.
they had a bunch of kids doing their swear in.
i look at them and go 'learn to love these last few seconds with your hair boys'

And if you ever actually got Malaria....you would wish that you would have taken them.

I took my malaria pills for a good 4 months but staying on top of it day in and day out was a *****. Just stopped all together. The chances of getting bit by something carrying malaria was about as likely as us pulling out of Iraq on time.

This one time WAY out west at this little Afghan Checkpoint or w/e I got TORE the **** up by sand fleas. Had a good 40+ bites on each arm. Wanted to take a lighter and some hairspray to both of them.

so how come i continously had dreams of being forced to watch my platoon get their throats slit, but when i stopped taking it, that went away?

they gave us stuff that was one a week. mefloquine i believe it was called. all that stuff did was give me horrid sleep, and the ****ing shakes.

I slept like a champ with it. I honestly think it's mind over matter. Sort of how pain works. I got stung by a be once...Thought I rolled over a sharp stick was like..damn. Then I noticed the bee and I was like.....OH NOES, I'm ded!

yeah i just couldn't trust any of those drugs
i mean after hearing my bosses talk about taking that stuff in somalia/early tours to the ghan, and my own reading. that stuff sounded stupid dangerous.
they say something like 1:15,000 get depression, suicidal thoughts, paranoia, disturbing dreams, then how could just about every dude that i talked to about this, had the same **** as me in that battalion?
i'd of done the dailies, if i had time to, but man when you're in the COP's playing hero of the free world, sometimes you forget and what's the point then?

Sooo.... went to trim the beard, to get rid of some of the round look to it. I screwed up and had to duplicate on the other side, then I screwed up again... and again. So, now, I resemble a Spanish Conquistador. Good enough.
