One more thing that I haven't yet posted but is definitely overdue.
Many of you that have competed in this area the past few years might recognize the absence of Harold Taylor, a University of Michigan alum who has given significant amounts of his time over the past few years to help start (and restart) the MWGL conference. Due to life and time commitments, Harold has been unable to continue volunteering his time for running the conference. Harold has participated in the NCPA since 2003 as a player, and is probably the single reason why you all have the MWGL conference to play in.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Harold for his support of the league. Thanks!

I would just like to inquire as to why NCPA events, excluding nationals, is FPO.? This creates higher cost for the teams and we can't use the sponsors we work hard to gain. I understand for indoor fields, they want white fill, but we can still get white fill paint and bring it. Just curiosity.

The league doesn't have a specific policy against having BYOP events. The paint policy we have initiated this year is that all paint shot at our events must be from paint vendors that sponsor the league. However, having events be FPO helps to keep down the entry costs associated with the events. Most field owners are unwilling to host events that are BYOP, as it wouldn't make sense for them to turn away regular business to have an event that they wouldn't make money on. In general, the difference in entry fees for a FPO event against a BYOP event would make the cost savings to teams nil, even with teams receiving paint at MAP prices.

So, you can only use your sponsor's paint if the paint company will give a kickback to the league... can't say I like this new trend in tournaments.
On top of that, even if you DO have a paint sponsor who is welcome at the event, it doesn't matter, because you've got to pay full price for the paint anyways. Something stinks here.

No it makes sense. The paint company sponsors the league. We(the paint buying customer) then pay full price. It all evens out........sorda......kinda......well.........nope .

PSP has done this for several years, and MSXL is doing it in 2012. It's not too much to ask for companies that we ultimately bring in $100k in revenue each year to support us as well.

No, the PSP plays at venues that actually allow byop, so does the MSXL. Those leagues allow teams to use their sponsorships. So while yes, they only allow certain brands to be used at the event, they don't make teams which have deals with those companies then pay retail for the paint. You guys are essentially just stealing the sponsorship perks from the teams that have earned them, which is especially devious considering the fact that your target market is COLLEGE kids (read='broke as ****').
I was looking forward to this, but now that I see what's going on, ya'll can count me out.
EDIT: The PSP and MSXL also offer decent prize packages. What's the prizes for NCPA? Entry to Nationals? Of course, it's an opportunity to spend more money, sweet.
