New media policy is simply outrageous.

The new "policy" found here is simply outrageous. Making photographers who shoot teams for profit pay for credentials is understandable but making them send a DVD with copies of the images following the event is just absurd and if they do not wish to do so you limit their access and charge more. Very disappointing. Also what about the people who paid the $40 fee that was supposed to be good for the whole year?

Here is my revision to the new policy that I find would be more acceptable. No more $500 payments to get to play photographer on the main field, no giving up of our images, and no temp passes (Seriously was that for real??).

If other photographers would like to add their input that would be appreciated.

Who is eligible for Full Access NPPL Media Credentials

1. Media Working for legitimate news outlets. - NO FEE

2. Established Photographers/Videographers & Photography/Video Companies (Photographers with experience working in professional environments) - Pay a $100 fee.

3. Photographers/Videographers working on behalf of registered Semi-Pro/Pro level teams. (1 Photographer per team. Each additional photographer $100.)

Who is eligible for Restricted Access Credentials:
(Access to Divisional fields)

1. Photographers & Photography Companies* (Photographers with minimal experience working in professional enviroment.) - Pay $100 Fee.

2. Team Photographers/videographers with permission from opposing team. - Pay $75 Fee.

* Photographers with little to no experience will not be granted access.

** Nppl reserves the right to remove any personnel with a media pass off the fields and barred them from shooting the remainder of the event, if we find the person is disrupting or aiding a team to cheat while on the field. There will be NO REFUND issued. You will also be barred from shooting the remainder of the season and will have to be reviewed by our board to determine if you will be eligible to shoot any more NPPL events.
This policy goes into affect immediately, starting with our upcoming event: DC Challenge.

I wouldnt give my images to ANYONE that didnt pay me. Not to mention PAYING THEM to give them your images.

I understand having to buy a media pass, but no chance in hell youll be getting any of my images without paying for them.

I hope a representative from the NPPL posts to clear things up, otherwise they're in for quite a surprise. I'll send them a DVD, but each image will be 50 pixels on the longest side with a WM over it. Again, I'm hoping someone from the NPPL posts in here to clear things up.

until they come up with an editor with a high school diploma or higher who can fix the poor spacing. i refuse to read their policy. it hurts my head just looking at it.

yeah, I was wondering the same thing.

Here is the thing that's pissing me off...they announce this BS Policy what 3 weeks before the event!!!! Maybe they can implement another policy the day before the event and we have to use "THEIR" memory cards that must be turned in to them at the end of the day.

I understand the NPPL reason for doing this. Trying to become more mainstream and look as professional as possible. BUT, the timing could have been better. Three weeks from an event, half way through the season seems like an odd time to change policy.

Maybe its because the all star event is taking place in DC and they have some deal with an outside company for media coverage.

Hopefully someone from NPPL can give a little more insight.

why is it that nobody has called the NPPL? it may not work, but i can assure you calling them and speaking to them one on one is a hundred times better than posting a thread and complaining. NPPL is pretty understanding to problems like this. try calling and be polite, i bet youll get a better response.
