Had a brigade run this morning, apparently a 15 min mile pace is just too fast for some people.

I know I'm 10 minutes past 9 but can someone tell me why every cadence is airborne ranger or c130. I guess it makes sense in an airborne unit, but we are heavy.

I personally like the "A is for army" cadence.
A is for army
R is for army
M is for army
Y is for army
I love the army
army army army
Repeat until PSG/1SG gets annoyed enough to never have you call cadence again

We do Division runs and they send out a "Scouting party"... as in six of us run about a quarter mile ahead of the division and have to constantly slow down because they are all way behind. It's ****ing embarrassing to share a uniform with some of these people.

Because that's all anyone knows. I hate cadence... I don't know any of them... if you can sing you need to run faster.
Also... I want to know who comes up with some of our taskings. For example we are to be on the look out for IRAM and IDF weapons.... did I miss something? Last time I checked IRAMs are not a direct fire weapon. Also... why do we need to be told to look out for IEDs and EFPs? I understand that EFPs are manufactured and so aren't technically "improvised" but does anyone actually think someone is going to say "hold up there guys... I think we have an IED on the road up there... no... wait... forget it it's just an EFP... lets keep going"? Do you think the TSA people are told not to let suicide vests in... oh and don't let the suicide belts in either?

Then, after the wave has subsided and I let go I want to watch it slump into a broken mass, whimpering. When the word "why?" crosses it's bloody swollen lips the only reply that will come is "yes... why?".

We had a brigade run monday and all the NCOs ran in the back of our company's formation and talked ridiculous amounts of **** to any pogs/fallouts we passed. It kept me entertained while I had my hand on some e-4s back literally pushing him the last 1.5 miles.

My old SGM was a salty badass black guy and a Nam vet and had some siiiiick Nam cadences that were depressing as **** about drinking and killing Jodie cause he took your Cadillac and ****ed your wife etc. Most of them had a chorus that sounded like it was straight outta Roots. An added bonus.

11x was my first choice, but the wait was really long and my counselor said that based on my grades and whatnot I'd have a really good chance of making it as 89D. If I can't hack it, I'll be re-classed into something along those lines anyways, but I'm remaining pretty optimistic about my chances of making it.
It was kinda funny though. All of us guys who were staying at the hotel for Meps for the first time, were being told by the shippers about how horrible the lines and stuff were gonna be, but it really wasn't that bad at all. Everybody was super chill and it was kinda fun in a way, because we got a sneak peek into military life.
