2k1 Warped Sportz Dark Cocker (Freeflow Milled) - Operation Former Glory

10/19 Edit: New Pics

So I managed to find an amazing craigslist deal that included an Automag RT, a Shocker w/ tons of extras, and 2 cockers. One of the cockers happened to be a Warped Sportz Dark Cocker.

The previous owner was vague saying "it has a valve leak". No further specifications given, nor did I ask because I didn't want to chase away the deal (it was $400 for everything. Included barrels, tanks, regs, drops, ff shocker bolt kit, crappy gear bag, plus more.)

I haven't had the time to air it up yet. My hope is that a bit of oil in the marker will lube a possibly dry cup seal in the valve and save me time/money. Murphy's law would dictate that I'll likely have to buck up and buy a valve tool and replace the seal myself.

Picks as it sits in my posession.

My goal is to solve the leaking valve (severity/difficulty still undetermined), and possibly place the slider back onto it. I may just leave the PE Hinge on the marker, and keep the slider in case I decide to sell it (I'm not even 100% that it is the original frame, but it is a red/blk fade and I don't believe it's coincidence).

More to come in the following days as I start to clean things up and air things out.
Thoughts, opinions, and comments welcome.

That's what I figured. IF i decided to part the slider, you'll be on my list. I think for now I'll keep it with the gun.

--------

Update: I aired up the gun, and the "valve leak" is exactly what I thought it was. It's actually the 3 way. It appears he tried to swap the original with an ans one, and then he cob-jobbed the coupler that screws on the trigger rod. I believe I just found the original 3 way chilling in the bag of parts he gave me, as well as the original rod coupler. There was also a few extra rods in that bag, so perhaps he didn't even use the original rod either.

Either way, not a difficult fix. Should have this thing mowing faces in no time.

Spent my day off finishing this up. Replaced the 3 way with the original one (color matches the palmer perfectly). Replaced the bolt + back block with the original one.

It took a while to get the marker in good timing, because he had the PE frame adjusted very tight (very small pull), and as a result you couldn't move the firing point early enough to not burp. Doing so would cause the marker to not remained cocked (it would slip back to uncocked). So I loosened the trigger all the way, and had to drop the lug down some. Shoots great now.

There is indeed a leak, but I believe it's actually where the regulator screws to the marker, and not the valve (because it started leaking again when I increased pressure in the regulator to get the fps up). I sent plenty of oil through the gun and any leaks down the barrel are gone. Regardless, I have a valve tool on the way so I can at least hit it with some shocker lube to prevent present/future leaking.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't have a clue what the ff kit is worth these days. I used to own one back with my 2k5 dynasty shocker. But when I sold the shocker, the kit went with it. Apparently they're popular as people are pm'ing me about it, and I wasn't even sure I was gonna sell it yet. But I guess I should start turning a profit on the CL deal at some point here.

And I'd love to grab a tornado valve for it. I've got a valve tool coming from actionvillage (surprisingly the cheapest place new with shipping), so I guess while I'm at it I should.

Recently found out that a friend of mine has a ton of spare freeflow parts inventory. Most importantly, valves. So it looks as if shortly I'll have this thing rebuilt with new/original freeflow internals.

Keep all of the original parts. No excuses.

If you ever do decide to sell it in the future, you'll kill your bottom line by getting rid of anything color matching/original.

Nice haul.

I've decided that this deserves to have the original slider put back on it. Should be happening tonight, and I'll get better pics and such afterwards.

Day off today. So what else to do but lube the valve and put on the original slider.

Pics of valve (not actually sure what valve this technically is, but it's what came out)

More pics when finished putting slider back on.

Hmmm. WTF is that valve? I have never seen one like that before.

A freeflow (dark or otherwise) would have either a stock WGP brass valve in it or a SS Freeflow one... I have never noticed a difference performance wise between the valves.

... and keep all the original parts. If you want it all original, put a FF 3way, Shocktech BOMB, or stock WGP STO 3 way on there.

It kinda looks like someone turned a SS valve down on a lathe. I see why they would, more volume and less pressure.

I've never really seen a valve like that, but it looks cool.

Congrats on getting this thing put back together, it's looking good.

I actually already put the original one back on. I'll get picks up later now that it's got the slider back on as well.

I've never come across that valve either. I'd love it if someone can tell me what it is.

Valve mystery solved. Older freeflow valve for sure. Guy pulled one out of his millennium as proof.

Also, updated pics with slider frame installed.

Blue hose on front is temporary. When switching to the slider I didn't have anything long enough in black or red. So I'm stuck with 1 blue hose until the new stuff comes in.

I've been looking at this thread and I noticed some differences in the milling between your Dark and mine. I wonder what the story is behind the changes.

differences:
- wire detent vs. ball
- 6 teardrops vs. 7
- feedneck stripe thicknesses
- different sized teardrops on frontblock
- extra milling in the pump arm slot on yours

Also there is slightly more black in the fade on my dark versus others I've seen

Here's mine (100% original)

Well, one side of mine has only 6 because of the wire detent. The other side indeed has 7. Also, my professional slider doesn't say "dye" on the side like yours does, and the milling by the grips (as noted on the top edge of the grips) is different. Mine is milled differently from most I've seen.

What SN is yours? Just curious now.

I believe the differences are largely related to the year produced. My friend has a dark cocker in a splash pattern with a race frame that has the same tear drop body, but on the top by the breech, there is a sort of snake or curvey arrow pointing in the direction of the arrow. I'll get pictures next time I'm around it. (I only just recently noticed that his "race'd freeflow" as he called it is actually the same body pattern as the dark cocker I own (probably because freeflow would've done the milling for both of our cockers).

But yes, more information from anyone who has it would be amazing
