well cup has an NCPA division that if you win, gives you a bye into the knockout round of class A at Nationals.
im pretty sure that FAU will be playing that, and I would like my team to play that as well. So while there are only 4 events for our conference. There would be 6 events that are available for us to play.

Right. I understand that part, but these events that we're planning for are for class AA, so I wouldn't count cup as an event. We've already talked about having an A class in Florida, but they won't let it happen unless there is a class AA to support new teams looking to get into A.
We should either schedule only 4 regional events or 5 regional events in the case that a team's schedule doesn't line up with a tournament. Then again, I suppose it could lead to cancelled events or low attendance overall if there are more options and less incentive to show up if they want full possible points for the season.

I think we are on the same page. WC and Nationals are not part of the regional schedule and that's why I didn't number them.
We have 4 regional events listed now, plus an alternate for unforeseen circumstances(ie compressor failure, nature, invasion, so on).
We could try and get fields to commit to both dates and have a meeting at the end of each event to confirm.
It is sort of an unwritten rule to not hold events the weekend before and after WC. Teams don't tend to have the money, time, or energy to play the week after.
The most important thing is to get everyone to show for the opener so we start out in the right direction. We can do our best to mitigate attrition but it almost always happens.
I will try to contact gorilla this week. It would be nice to get this mostly hashed out before this next weekend. Time to first event is 49 days as we have it now. That is not a lot of time to get everything done.

Of course. Someone will contact the owner after my team has a meeting tomorrow.
Consider me the contact for that.

If we need an alternate site, I spoke to Tim at Gator paintball today and he said they would host an event if needed. It might be a good option if gorilla isn't interested or available. It is north of Tampa in Hudson FL. It meets the minimum reqs listed on NCPA.
Also, just received email from Joe that the conference name is SACC.

I'm thinking 4 events for the season is a good place to start this year. Scheduling five events for a new conference might be a bit too much, especially with several teams also planning on playing Class A at Cup and Nationals.
If an event has to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, that is the league's (read: my) responsibility to schedule an appropriate makeup date, so no need to schedule a specific date or week for a makeup event.
I think someone already pointed this out, but the Mid-South guys are already looking into an event at Nitro and/or Hot Shots in GA. Accordingly, when we're picking the four events and dates here, I'll do my best to ensure there's no date conflicts between the Mid-South events and the SACC events in case teams would like to play both.

Honestly, does it really make sense to have the first event for the Florida conference in Georgia? If we are going to do a combined event with the Mid-South guys, I would suggest the November tournament as that had the least amount of turnout last year.
Also, instead of just looking at fields that can host, shouldn't we be looking at schools that have fields capable of hosting? Each school would be responsible for their event. I know UCF and FGCU can each take one. Can FAU host one at hotshots or something down south? Is there a school in Jacksonville or does UF or USF have a field capable of hosting?
I would say lets do the first event at OPP, since FGCU already had gone through setting up a tournament there last year and it would probably be the easiest to set up. If we are only doing 4 events, lets skip October so teams can play Cup if they would like. We will get in contact with PBW and find out which dates work for our tournament.

This would be a good idea; I'd have a feeling that UF, FAU, and other teams planning on playing at World Cup would likely skip a Class AA event, unless they want an event as practice

I think what we were playing with this weekend has some substance. We were trying to get some work done on this.
FSU said they had no qualified fields.
UF said Gorilla looked promising.
Gorilla in JAX is 2 hours for FSU and under 2 hours for UF.
Edit: Getting some word that University of North Florida in Jax is trying to get up and running. They seem to have 7 or 8 players.

UCF would like to claim the February/January tournament spot (tenatively the #3 tournament) for PB world. We'll get it set up at PBW if everyone is ok with it.

I haven't been to PBW since the SPCS series fell apart, but it was a pretty nice field from what I remember, we would have no objections.

Sounds good to me.
Gorilla said they are interested and have photos of a 2011 Xball field setup in the Florida forum. It even has lines. I requested information.
edit: I have spoken with gorilla just to see if they were interested, which they are, and if they meet the requirements on the NCPA website, which they do.
I know we don't have defined dates yet, but they think they can be ready as soon as September.

hopefully the NCPA will recognize that we are serious about this and approve our events. the first one is deff going to be the most important.

I asked them to review the NCPA guidelines to make sure they understand the minimums, fines, and logistics.
I will call them back tomorrow or Monday to get a couple options on dates.
Am I right in understanding AA events are FPO?

AA events are FPO.
Entry starts at 150 per team, so the only way that fields actually get some money out of it is FPO.
Nationals is the only occasion that you can BYOP or pick it up at the event.
Would be nice to save on costs, but no field would host a tournament for a loss. At least I wouldn't.

That is how I understand it as well. I sent them a PM regarding the date. I might be OTG for the next couple but I will get it up here when I have something.
I name it the "please come to this event" opener. That might be a sound a little desperate.

I haven't read the previous pages yet, but Riddle would definitely appreciate more tournaments in Florida.
