a few pimp problems

i bought a pimp in nonworking condition. i have fixed most things, everything except 2 problems:
  • a leak out of the solinoid. the solinoid comes apart in 3 pieces, the leak is coming out of a hole in the middle piece. i have dissassembled, cleaned, and relubed twice. still it leaks. the gun cycles just fine, but the leak is annoying.
  • the stock reg has a suuuuuper slow recharge rate. i have dissassembled and cleaned and relubed this as well, replacing all orings. still it doesnt reach operating pressure until 30 seconds after the previous shot.
if you can help me with any of these problems i would really appreciate it!

also a side note: what frames will fit the pimp? any autococker ones? i have searched the forum and it seems just the 2.0 frame will fit?

In my experience Det regs can be kind of a pain...you might consider switching out for something else and see if that solves your problems. If your in need of a new solenoid this might help.

i am already looking for a new reg, but i would much rather just be able to fix the one i have if possible. and i have switched it out, so i KNOW it is the cause of my problem. and that solenoid will fit a pimp? it definitely looks different. thank you to you both for your help.

-If the leak is coming out of the exhaust port on the noid, the leak could also be an o-ring on the ram. Either the rear shaft o-ring, or the middle o-ring on the housing.

-If your detonator has that bad of a recharge, your reg seat is most likely bad and there is a piece stuck in the piston shaft. You can NOT turn down a detonator while it is pressureized, so if you try that, the piston shaft will cut into the reg seat as you turn it down. If you shoot it as you turn it down, it releases the excess pressure as you turn it down.

- Not sure if any other frames fit, I'm sure something could be modded to work.

THANK YOU. that is a very specific answer and should help me. ill change the ram orings. i did turn down the detonator while it was pressureized, so is it fixable or a dead reg?

EDIT: found a bit of rubber clogging the reg piston. got it out and the reg is perfect!

Cool, since a chunk is missing out of the reg seat, the reg might creep on you.
Or it could work fine.

You can just replace the reg seat if you can find one. I may have 1 or more in my field box if you can't find one anywhere.

Also, by the rear ram shaft o-ring I meant the ONLY o-ring on the shaft it's self. the ram has to be completely disassembled to replace this one. You may check the outer housing o-ring first, and try and get some gun lube/oil in the ram to see if you can get out of disassembling it. And note, that the ram still might not be the cause of your leak. Although, if it isn't the ram, it'd have to be the noid itself.

how the heck do you get the ram itself out?? i see the alen hole on the shaft, but as i turn it, even while holding the front of the ram, it just turns the whole ram. i know it may be a long shot to fixing this leak, but i dont care, i am gonna try everything.

EDIT: the almighty search button...found the answer to my question here

Yeah, the small Allen wrench hole in the back is pretty useless. It'll strip out very easily. Best disassembly procedure would be...

- extend the ram,
- wrap the shaft in a thick piece of leather or rubber
- then clamp the shaft in a vise or viseGrips **(you must not let any metal go through the leather and touch the shaft, or it will gouge in and ruin it)**
- then grab onto the hammer, and unscrew it.

- optional if you can't break it loose - use some heat to break down the locktite between the shaft and hammer. If you were to just heat the ram in open air, you can melt the seals. I extend the ram, submerge the housing portion under water with the shaft and hammer above the water, the heat the shaft where it connects to the hammer.
