[akward silence]

My cat (dumped on me by my neighbors) comes into the bathroom a few minutes ago and has about a chunk (about as big as your finger nail) missing from his ear. It's now a hole through the ear, almost like the very top layer of skin/fur is gone. My puppies were with me all day at the beach and my other cat adores him, so no violence was involved.

Any ideas?

I can post a picture if it would help, its not gruesome.

Edit: It doesn't seem to bother him at ALL. He's not scratching it or guarding it. He's still rubbing his head against my leg and being affectionate as always. It doesn't look infected, almost like it was supposed to come off.

weird. my friends cat would come to us all the time with fresh battle scars of the night before, often had good scratches on his head and stuff like that but as long as he never showed any pain or uncomfortably towards it we didnt worry. just put some neosporan and **** to help kill some of the bacteria and thats it.

Good plan, will do. I figured he just scratched it against something in his never ending quest to summit every tall object in my house.

indeed. he has tried countless times to ridw my great dane puppy. it hasn't gone in his favor at all lol
