Here is a link you might find useful. Dress up kits. Do it yourself plans, etc.

http://www.cushmanpaintball.com/

For the price of some of their kits you could come close to buying a mil sim marker.... They figured out the market for it long before those mil sim markers came out....

How about making a .50 cal replica? Or a gatling gun?

You can make your own barrels and dress them up with zilencers and ported shields like a 50 cal.

What is a woodsball marker?

A woodsball Marker, really, is no different from any other marker out there, but it's going to have a few features that make it more suitable for playing in the woods. Theoretically you could use any marker you want to out in the big 'ol nature of woodsball but, certain markers are made to withstand the elements better than others.
Qualities of a Woodsball Marker

* Rugged/Durable - Can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'
* Non-Reflective Surfaces - Not bright and shiny
* Easy to field strip - Easy to clean/replace parts out in the field
* Reliable - Will keep working consistently no matter what
* Compact - Isn't huge and bulky
* Aims easily and consistently

I dont know about the apex barrel. It seems like a lot of maneuvering on the move in order to get it to work in the right way. sounds like a waste of time and money.

The Apex is anything but a waste of money and time. It gives you a significant range increase and lets you put it on other barrels so you can have the standard range accuracy your use too when the Apex feature is not in use. If your refereing to the curve shots, very few people use an Apex for that. Its used primarily for range, and its well worth the price.
