New PbN Amnesty Program: 2nd chance for reformed banned users

I've heard several hard luck stories from members who we banned in the past but want to rejoin PbNation and once again be productive members of our community. It sounds like many of you have simply outgrown causing trouble online and want to once again participate on PbNation without hiding who you are.

I would like to personally give you another chance and welcome you back to PbNation. For one month only, we are going to extend the Annual Supporting Member "One Time Unban" to users who were not ASM when they were banned. Some of you were banned before the ASM program added the unban. Others didn't know that subscribing to ASM allowed you the chance to be unbanned and didn't proactively sign up. We are giving you that second chance now for a limited time. This is not a new program, we are simply extending the ASM unban for a limited time to people who were not ASM when they were banned.

Please note, people who have scammed, stolen or posted malicious porn need not apply. PbNation is simply not the place for you. You are not welcome back. No amount of money, begging or cajoling will change that. However, if you made some mistakes in the past or you feel we overreacted to a situation, here's your chance for a limited time to reclaim your banned username complete with your original join date, post count and even feedback.

In addition to being allowed back on the site, you will also get the full benefits of the Annual Supporting Member Program listed here. The only thing you will have used is your one time use unban that already comes with ASM.

To reclaim your old account, simply log into your banned account and fill out the info here.

Then sign up for ASM. Once that is done, we will verify your account hasn't posted anything harmful or malicious in the past before unbanning your account. This process should take at least a couple days so please be patient. In the event we can not unban you, we will simply refund your ASM payment and let you know.

If you are BOS and want to be unbanned, we will look into it. If you don't want your banned username back and really want to start fresh, you may even register for a new username. Just register, then click here to sign up for ASM.

Use the Contact Us page to let us know your new username.

TLDR; Thanks to the new ownership of PbN, the ASM unban is now available for one month only to people who were not ASM when they were banned. Jackasses that have scammed or posted malicious porn are still not welcome back.

XOXOXO

Holy **** call the guards a business might be looking to make money!

Let's be honest here, this can benefit both pbn and some old members who were hospitalized by the ban stick. As long as they stick to their guns on refusing to allow scammers and such I say go for it.

LOL

When we first acquired this site, I was deluged with people who wanted me to play judge and jury and unban them. Some of them were creepy, but many seemed like good people who were maybe immature at the time they got banned, or perhaps they were aggressive in promoting their blogs or sites. For these types of people I saw no harm in allowing them to return, but I wanted a way that was fair to all.

The amnesty program has been run by the staff and is the result of a decent amount of work and brainstorming from everyone (especially Kyle and John).

It was my request as the new owner and I think it is not a bad idea to try and be forgiving once in a while.

I only hope that the accusations of corporate greed are reserved until I unban enough people to buy an Airstream Skydeck....or even a Bob Long marker.

It's actually a really good idea to generate revenue for the site without directly effecting the current users. Which you seem to think it would be doing. But I'm sure a banning could be arranged for you so you can buy your way back in to justify that.

10 or 12 is a huge understatement, you're going to have 100+ people from ST signing up for this for sure. I don't really care either way, but expecting 10-12 people is a bit redic.

I've been ASM for a while now and have no problems paying for the ASM benefits. When contemplating whether or not to sign up for ASM, the last thing on my mind was the unban feature. I was more interested in supporting a forum that has given me many nights of late night entertainment at work, assistance in repairing markers, and a marketplace to sell some of my extra gear.

While, I'm sure all involved in this process are trying to do something nice and help out those who might have been wrongfully banned I would be willing to bet that there was significant talk about the revenue opportunity from the ASM subscription being purchased.

In all seriousness, Crowdgather acquired the site because they liked PbNation, not because they wanted to change everything about it. They have years of experience with managing forums and PbNation will be the largest forum in the Crowdgather network.

This is your chance to let us know what you like the most about the site as well as what you think we do need to improve. Sanjay (the CEO of Crowdgather) will actually be checking this thread personally to read your ideas and suggestions. This is a real opportunity for you to help shape the future of PbNation.

It also means for the first time ever, you can even invest in PbNation. Crowdgather (CRWG) is a publicly traded US company. This acquisition is a step towards paintball being more recognized as a mainstream activity than ever before.

Also, I'm sorry to disappoint all the trolls out there, but your friendly neighborhood mods, mega mods and admins will be sticking around. We're in this for the long haul, and we plan on keeping PbNation the best paintball forum around.

I am basing my estimate on the fact that I was contacted by around 10 people out of which 3 would be eligible for this.

If it is a much bigger number than that would be great, but my other choice was to just exercise my own judgement and unban some people for free. That didn't seem right to me because I wanted some way to feel that this was not going to be used by people who would start trolling right away. I think $30 is a decent amount of money and I doubt that people would pay it to just post pictures of their wangs.....again.

You would lose that bet. We did wonder how many people would misconstrue it that way, but that's it.

The main reason we decided to go the ASM route is that we hope that people will take this opportunity more seriously if they have something invested in it. Plus, it weeds out the people who would just use their second chance to cause trouble again. Also, this way it isn't unfair to the people who purchased ASM since it's really just an extension of an existing program.

I'm somewhat glad that you limited the offer to certain types of offenses being that there a number of scammers and low-life types that have been banned.

I have some friends that I think could come back, granted they be mature enough. Pretty good move, don't hate it.

It still a case by case basis so people can be denied, like scammers, and porn link people as stated in the OP.

Paintball News Rules
  1. No Upping threads. If you have something to say, please do, but don't post in the thread just to take it to the top of the forum.
  2. Do not post "1st post", "1st", "First post" or anything similar (or with any other number) at any point in a thread, even if you post a comment too. It is really annoying and it will result in a ban.
  3. If you don't like something, say why instead of just calling it ugly, lame, gay or any other name. If it is old, simply post a link or report the post with a link to the older News thread.
  4. Please don't post links for places to buy items. That encourages stores, sponsored players and other people to do it and spam the site.
If you have questions, please post them in the Talk to Mods/Admins forum.
