Possible eye issue or gun too quiet...
So I may have an issue with my nerve's eye, but I am not sure. Here is what is happening, with the eye on, the gun will not shoot very fast. Every now and then it will have a string, but it will not keep up with me consistently. Despite having a reloader b, imagine having an agitated loader on it, not force feed, and the gun's eye is waiting for the paint to drop in.
Now most people would assume it was the loader, but here is the problem. Once I put the loader on my e-cocker, it shoots ropes! No misfeeds, no chops!
So I went back to the gun. I turned the eye off, and the gun will keep up, but obviously the loader wont, and I then have a mess to clean up!
So here are my two thoughts:
- Either the eye on the gun is not working and doesn't relay the info back to the gun just right
- Or the loader, which is sound activated, cannot hear the gun!!!
FYI, to cover the first questions usually asked, yes everything was cleaned (including eyes), and yes they were fresh Duracell batteries in the gun and the loader. And yes everything was turned on, no it wasn't just a freak incident (this happened throughout the day).
Thanks for any help!

What is the color of the paint shell? Have you tested the eye function? Slowness sounds like eye problem. What board in the marker?

I've had the same problem with three paints:
- Some orange field paint crap (the only stuff I had problems with it chopping, but I wasn't the only one). Don't know the brand but I didn't use to much because it was the worst paint I've ever seen!
- X-Ball scenario (brown/green mix), the replacement for the orange stuff! On a side note, I like this stuff! Shot really well.
- Draxxus frostbite (yellow shell w/ green snowflake).
The eye seems to work on single tests. I drop a ball in, it shoots; no ball, no fire! And it is the stock nerve board.
Again, they all did fine with my e-cocker (well, as fine as the orange could go). If this is the eye, would I just need a new eye ribbon? If so, where can I get one? Smart Parts Parts is out.

We all might be SOL on eye ribbons unless we would do a private order for a bunch.

Try contacting GOG direct - if anyone has any laying around, it'll be them.

Something stupid..are the ribbon contacts and eye contacts clean? Not shorting? Do you have another shocker board you can test with?

Right before putting the ribbon back in, I wipe the contacts off. If anything, they could be over cleaned, but I am excessively careful with the eye ribbon.
I don't easily have another board to try it on, but the field I am closest to might have some shockers they might let me fiddle around with.

Is the sensor loose on the ribbon? Have you done a continuity test to make sure the ribbon isn't broken? Look for damage. Depending on where it is..you might be able to repair.

I can't say that I've looked THAT close at it, but next time i tear it down, I'll look. But from when I did look at it, nothing looked or felt odd about it.
After the whole orange paint fiasco, I did completely tear down, remove all lube, re-lube, and rebuild the whole gun. Even re-loctited the internals that need it. I haven't tried shooting it since, but I do need to do so to see if that helped anything.

Alrighty... update time!!!
Went a played some ball. Gun was still having eye issues. Here is the condition it is in: The gun is as clean as it could be so definitively NO eye issues! New paint used, blue that actually looks like it was this blue --> . Loader is definitively not the issue; I doubled checked my Reloader B, it is on the highest setting, and someone at the field tried a rotor on it, no difference. Eyes off, shoots just fine. The rotor kept up and the gun shot fine. Eyes on, the chrono said it was shooting between 7 and 8 BPS.
There is a gun guru at the field (he has been to pretty much any and every gun smithing workshop) and he said it is somewhere in the ribbon. Either the actual eye part is somewhat disconnected, the contacts are worn, or the eye is just plane shot! He gave me a few tips on some possible things to try, but he said most likely I will need to find a new eye.
I've contacted GOG, no reply. So I looked REALLY hard, and found a site that has Nerve eyes listed, so I ordered. But as others have said, some site send shocker eyes thinking they will fit nerves, so I guess I'll be a guinea pig.
If the tips he gave me works, then I'll post up whats going on!

you can do a continuity test on the eye wire. If you can swap out the upper and lower board with known good, you can confirm it is the eye wire. Good luck either way.

I do have a friend who has a nerve, but I don't know the working condition of his gun. I could see how well his works, swap the eyes over, and test both I guess.

Just as a note, contacting GOG takes a while. I generally don't hear anything from them until usually a week or two after I email them. I haven't gone the phone route however.
