09 Impulse Valve Leak - Solutions/Help?

Just got my 09 back from GOG.. They can't fix it and it's actually much worse.

Any tips/tricks to getting this leak to stop/lessen?

I have never seen the 09 valves. is it something you can take out to see why it is leaking? maybe something you could try to use a different valve for..ive seen people use eclipse valves in rxs and things like that. might work if the valve itself is damaged. like i said i dont know much about the new imp valves. it is a pressure balanced valve i think? gen4 timmies used a balanced valve maybe they could be retrofitted.

if its orings that arent sealing maybe some dow55 to swell them if replacing doesn't help.

tried just putting some gun oil in it? sometimes that will lesson or stop small leaks. not a great permanent fix...

these are all not great ideas sorry just throwing stuff out there. hopefully someone will post up who has more knowledge than me.

have you tried talking to dlx? they were taking 09 imps in trade for luxes saying they wanted to be able to help out people with 09s...i have no idea about what happened but it might be worth a shot.

It's a balanced valve.

When I get a chance I'll post a pic and tear it apart.. see if I cant figure it out.

DLX=GOG at this point.
Trade in is of no use for me since I paid $410 for it AND I am a gog/dlx dealer.

was saying that dlx offered the trade in saying they were going to use what got traded in for parts to fix the 09 imps. at the time they were working on them because there was no Gog. but if they are the same thing now it doesnt help.

09 Impulse Valve Core Leak Solution

My brother-in-laws Impulse has the valve core leak, we found a way to minimize/fix the leak, however we haven't put enough time behind the gun yet to see how long term the fix is, but it works. We applied Plasti-Dip, http://www.plastidip.com, to the valve core. We brushed the Plasti-dip onto the face of the valve core that seals onto the brass valve seat in the Impulse. His valve seat also had some nicks in the brass which we filled with some epoxy. So far the fix has stopped the leaking, just make sure to add some grease to the Plasti-dip to prevent wear. We've put a few days of play behind this fix, and it has held up so far, but if it fails it won't be difficult to redo.

We were originally going to re-machine the valve core and valve seat, but this is a cheap solution that has worked for now.

i think the problem are the tolerances of the angles, if the angles fit does´t 100% there is a high chance to get a leaking valve

so if you replicate the parts, is there a chance that you redesign it with a o-ring?

Pics after I upload them..

I sanded the valve face and the stem with 1000 sandpaper. The leaking went down CONSIDERABLY. I also lubed it with Hate Marmalade.

I bought some of the plastic dip (thanks for the tip) and will apply + sand it again.

I have a few people who may be able to make a new stem and valve.. not sure what materials, but they said they would give it a shot.

I'm pretty sure there is not a place to put teflon tape.

Try wrapping any sealing surface. Like orings, or the part that inserts into the brass. Could work. Whats the worst that could happen at this point?

Japy - That was the purpose of the Plasti-Dip, was to provide a rubber like sealing surface that shouldn't move around. With teflon tape you run the risk of tearing the tape up in the marker and getting it into the valve seat or rammer and causing more leaking issues.

1st coat = leak city. I think some sort of blowback since it leaked out the top/bolt, etc.

Recoating then going to sand a bit..

Glad to hear that it is working out for you. We had to reapply the coating once or twice to get the right amount on there so that it was even yet durable. He is still running the spring in his, but it is interesting to know that the 09's poppet can run without a spring.
