Your Steps:

1) Contact the Assemblymembers on the California Assembly Committee on Public Safety
2) Contact your representatives
3) Inform your customers so they may do the same.
4) Do you have any customers in California Law Enforcement?

The California Paintball Safety Coalition has drafted a form letter you can use to contact your representatives and members of the California Assembly Committee on Public Safety.

Paintball Business Form Letter

The business form letter allows you to stress the negative economic impacts this bill will have, both on your business and California tax revenues. As a California-based business, it is imperative that you contact your legislators and and members of the California Assembly Committee on Public Safety let them know you oppose the bill.

You should both call and register your opposition to the bill and fill out, sign and fax a copy of the form letter, or write your own respectful letter explaining why you are opposed to SB 798. If you do write your own letter, you can still read the form letter for ideas.

Remember it is critically important to communicate in a respectful manner. Legislators may simply not understand the full consequences of this bill and it is our job to provide them with the information they need to amend this bill to exclude paintball guns.

Contacting the Committee on Public Safety:

Call Them:

State that you oppose Senate Bill 798 unless it amended so paintball guns do not need to be brightly colored.

Tom Ammiano (916) 319-2013
Steve Knight - (916) 319-2036
Gilbert Cedillo - (916) 319-2045
Curt Hagman - (916) 319-2060
Jerry Hill - (916) 319-2019
Holly J. Mitchell - (916) 319-2047
Nancy Skinner - (916) 319-2014

Fax Them:

Tom Ammiano, Chair - Fax: (916) 319-2113
Nancy Skinner - Fax: (916) 319-2114
Jerry Hill - Fax: (916) 319-2119
Steve Knight, Vice-Chair - Fax: (916) 319-2136
Gil Cedillo - Fax: (916) 319-2145
Holly Mitchell - Fax: (916) 319-2147
Curt Hagman - Fax: (916) 319-2160

If you can't fax, you can email. Do not send your letter as an attachment! You must cut and paste the letter into the body of your email or it won't go through.

Call and fax your representatives as well.

Inform Your Customers!

You likely have an email list for your customers. Make sure they know what is happening! You can send them the letter released by the California Paintball Safety Coalition, located here:

Paintball Player Form Letter

Or you can refer them to the Player Action thread on PbN here:

http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3620935

But make sure you let your customers know!

If you have an email list but are not sure how to send an email to everyone on your list, you can contact me and I will help you do it. Just on my user name above and click "Send email to raehl".

California Law Enforcement

Do you have any customers in California Law Enforcement?

It would be very helpful to have someone employed in law enforcement to explain to legislators why it is not necessary for paintball guns to be included in this bill.

If you know of such a person, contact them and ask if they would write a letter to the Public Safety Committee Members explaining how they enjoy paintball and their concerns with this bill. If you or they need help drafting a letter, please feel free to contact me (click my handle and "Send email to raehl".)
