In chicago; I can't speak fo HB as I was not there; refs were wearing radios with ear pieces.

all of them or just some? they should all be wearing them. I bet they all wore them in HB because of ESPN. Goes to show you that once something is in the spotlight, then and only then is the problem a problem.

I agree. Something else that we have an issue with is the league always reminds us that the players are "paying customers"; we are supposed to consider the "intent" if there is an infraction. I'm not psychic so I can't tell what a player's intent is. I try and give the benefit of the doubt to the player unless it is something absolutely obvious, but the whole grey area and intent thing can turn a simple call into something crazy.

We did have radios at both events so far this year, but this is not even fool proof.

So how is it that a head ref doesn't hear a call from a field ref then?

We only had 6-8 radios on field one in HB because they didn't have enough to give to go around to registration, ops and the refs.

never mind i deleted that after thinking about it some more.
THe question is how does the League go about turning the term "paying customers" into stricter regulation.

paying customer expect to get a good product. If the rules are setup to be clear and concise there is NO reason why the product can't be good.

That's a good question and something I'm not sure if they've ever thought of. It's a league run by players for the player, but to me that's not always the best product.

Maybe there needs to be a difference between the league (promotions) and the playing (rules and regulation) a separation of power is needed.
