That might've just been for HB, since that's the NPPLs largest event. I could see them having ESPN3 around for the Vegas event in November, but we'll see. Cost is also a factor, I can't even begin to imagine how much ESPN would charge just for coverage for ESPN3 "The Tres".

Sounds like it's just because of the weather issues here in Chicago... real windy and were expecting thunders storms sunday... it'll be on ESPN3 for DC

When HB was done it was set up as a 1 time event.
I'm sure if they got the amount of traffic they were hoping for but I wouldn't expect them back until Vegas at best, maybe HB 12 if we're lucky.
You have to remember $$$ is the biggest factor, if the NPPL can't pay for it then ESPN has to pay for it, if ESPN is going to pay for it then they have to make $$ off of it. I don't know how many viewers they needed to consider HD a success and I don't recall any official numbers being released. All we can really do is hope it was considered a success by ESPN and it worth them doing it again.

From what I've heard, it costs about $500,000 to film a day worth of events on ESPN. That's cost of cameramen, directors, equipment, and other costs like hotel and travel. $500k is the cheapest, I've heard, for any event.

Announcers at Chicago mentioned something about the weather being a factor for espn3 not coming. Thunderstorms are projected for Saturday and Sunday.
