Last year it was really good grass. I would assume the same.

The playing surface in Chicago is among my favorite in the sport.
CPX has a series of metal posts (some lit) from which they draw up the nets. The area is expansive so as the grass wears in one area they just move the nets to where the fresh grass is until the other field has been regrown.
Now this may be impossible in some states, but if you are in a state where you can grow grass naturally (or you can dig a well to offset water costs), this is the IDEAL surface I think to play on.
Reminds me of some football stadiums where there is still a greenskeeper who's job it is to grow the perfect grass for the field.
CPX does it RIGHT !!! And they also have the BEST Scenario Field I have EVER seen. An entire city block with 2 story buildings, paved streets, cars,
OMG I could go on forever... and have .......
I look forward to the NPPL Chicago and Living Legends 4 !

It's actually going to be on turf in the gravel parking lot. Was at CPX today and the trucks were dropping off the turf and netting.

I will update everyone on this tomorrow, I arrive at midnight-ish tonight. AFAIK, we only loaded a few rolls of turf on the truck, to compensate for the parking lot surface. And I believe the turf will be beyond the actual play area (referee area).
so it is grass with the out of bounds area using turf.
Keep an eye out for another 'behind the scenes' thread!

you should probably play at cpx before making silly demands. Grass > Turf any day especially the quality stuff they have here.

Turf and grass, subtle differences, but you need cleats regardless. IMHO good grass > outdoor turf > bad grass. On some fields, the grass becomes dirt and mud on day two.

So for those that were not there today, the grass is nice, but required a little bit of turf in some areas. Like on snake side for field 1, and a little bit of dorito side on field 2.
